We are fucked for as long as humans remain selfish and greedy.

Considering that airports all over the EU and all over the world world would have used very similar products and procedures, it’s unlikely to be a unique situation, and would seem likely to be far worse at bigger and busier sites.

Those foams were just considered inert and ultra safe back in the day.

When you consider how much of that stuff has been used — everything from frying pans, pots, various kitchen gadgets, to raincoats have used them.

Looking like the asbestos of our era.

The worse part of this is that manufacturers knew about PFAS’ dangers 50 years ago ad did nothing.

      Now, it’s everywhere.

[For those wanting to know more, regular blood and plasma donations lower the levels](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1438463922001237) but it shouldn’t be necessary.

Scientists in an Irish university have [discovered a cheap filter](https://www.ul.ie/news/ul-researchers-discover-solution-to-eliminate-forever-chemicals-from-drinking-water) that’ll eliminate it from drinking water.

It’ll still have to be rolled out on an industrial scale however to be fitted in water treatment plants.

I mean I get the worry about PFAS but banning tap water is not the way to go

Water is not something that can be left out of a tight control grip anymore.

It should be seen as a nationally and international securiry asset.

Clean, available, water, is what holds up civilizastion itself, far more than most other things.

Its neglect, is a crime by those with power over it.

This is unbelivable the companies should pay the bill

If you drink bottled water, you are ingesting microplastics, and now this. No escape.

Isn’t water from plastic bottles going also going to have microplastics and other crap in it?

    11. PFAS is the new asbestos. At this point everyone has ingested some.

At some point we need to accept convenience over some risk.

Me staring at this from France with tap water in my mouth… do I spit it out

Meanwhile, in Vicenza (Italy), Miteni: “hold my poisonous water!”. Jokes aside, check it out: one of the biggest PFAS scandals in the whole world.

Between PFAS and microplastics, climate change and rise of warmongering a**holes, we are truly screwed.

Is bottled water even a solution?

      Aren’t PFAS everywhere?
