Sono un ricercatore con sede a Francoforte e considerando di estendere il permesso di soggiorno. I colleghi di Berlino hanno condiviso che le loro regole consentono un’estensione fino a 9 mesi dopo la fine del progetto di ricerca per cercare lavoro.

Yes, immigration law is federal. Plus that link even cites an EU directive.
Hmm, honestly seems like Berlin did not update this specific page. People under an § 18d permit have, since June 2024, the possibility to apply for a residence permit “Arbeitsplatzsuche für Fachkräfte” valid for 18 months.
9 month seems to be the legal minimum set by the EU REST Directive, but Germany exceeds this minimum now by doubling it.

It’s actually 18 months now. You’ll just need to prove that you have enough money for the duration of residence permit (ALG, blocked account etc)
