Billboards have recently appeared across Hungary showing Péter Magyar — the leader of Tisza, currently the strongest Hungarian opposition party — and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as two newly hatched chicks, sitting side by side in a nest. The imagery is accompanied by the Hungarian phrase “mint két tojás” — literally “like two eggs”, meaning “like two peas in a pod.”
The message seems clear: to suggest that Magyar is “the Hungarian Zelensky” — a populist figure backed from abroad, or a political newcomer with similar ambitions.
This narrative isn’t limited to the billboards. The same comparison is now being pushed through YouTube ads and pro-government media outlets, indicating a coordinated propaganda campaign. The effort appears aimed at undermining Magyar’s credibility by portraying him as a foreign-influenced figure or part of a larger geopolitical agenda.

They don’t seem to realise, that comparing Orcban’s challenger, Peter Magyar to Zelenskyy, the most iconic leader of the XXI century, defeats the purpose of their hatemongering propaganda.

Is that really thought through? He could just adopt it and say, “Yes, sure i am! Like Zelensky, I will fight all russian aggression… unlike Orbán, who welcomes them into our midst, like the collaborateurs of 1956”
If the government handles this incitement as “well” as they did the attempted Pride ban — which ended up becoming the biggest Pride in Hungarian history — then a change of government in 2026 is practically guaranteed.
I see a lot of you commenting on how it’s actually a compliment for Magyar to get compared to Zelensky but the point of this poster is to indicate that Peter Magyar is more interested in Ukraine than in Hungary.
(Great way to spend governmental funds.)
Populists really are experts at trying to insult their opponents but actually make them look cool instead.
This actually a major own-goal, since most of the Hungarians – despite Orban’s propaganda – still look up to Zelensky.

I mean… I’m honestly not even sure if that is supposed to be a bad thing? I know little a out Magyar, but Zelensky is objectively a good leader and more charismatic than many other high politicians.
