Unless this was free, someone needs to be sacked.

Dont worry hun’s it will be ok and sure we will have ya’s out in a week….

    3. TheNotoriousPigeon on

Or you could avoid unnecessary anxiety entirely and not commit a crime? Is that too logical?

    4. maverickeire on

Would someone consider the poor prisoners ?

      While their victims get nothing

    5. Doonnnnnn on

Should be a virtual tour of the court and the judge giving you a suspended sentence

    6. PoppedCork on

The judges and prison service will use this instead of physically sending people to prison and it will count as time spent

    7. small_far_away on

Yep, anxiety of the prison is really a big worry for Johnny (147 previous convictions).

Funnily enough I don’t think most people care about ‘prisoners anxiety’

Gardai say that they are still working to figure out how all 78 new inmates were able to escape from the prison. And all within minutes of arrival. Eileann Whelan, RTÉ news. Laois.

Oh dear. I’d hate to think of all those murderers and rapists being anxious. They’re probably just not used to the idea of going to jail given how lightly the courts treat them.

should we not be putting this money into the actual prisons and not…. whatever this is

    12. I wish they focused more on actual rehabilitation programs inside prison instead of this

    13. New for the summer 2025 season – it’s “Tadhg’s first prison visit – now in VR!” – only €0.00! – it’s an absolute steal.

I actually think this is great. Mental health is a causal factor for committing crime, including drug offences. The punishment is supposed to be being imprisoned, not further damage to mental health that is more likely to increase the risk of reoffending.

Prisoners who are more emotionally dysregulated when they enter will also be harder for staff to manage and are more likely to be a greater risk to themselves and others.

lol what? More wasted taxes. Wonder what consulting firm managed to enrich themselves this time.

    17. Key-Lie-364 on

Should we really want to **reduce** prisoner anxiety ?

If you have committed a crime and been sent to prison, its **supposed** to be a punishment.

BTW does the virtual tour include the bit where you get a “mountjoy mouth” i.e. the teeth knocked out of your head so you can blow yer man without biting down…

Jaysus it’s a bleak existence in those prisons. Sterile and gray. (I know that’s the point but still)

Haven’t watched it, but if a video like this cuts any time from processing new prisoners or logging in visitors it’ll save a fortune in staff time.

Even 10 minutes saved × the number of people involved is huge.

A video also means you can guarantee that something wasn’t missed. That can have huge implications for legal cases where people claim they weren’t told “x” or “y”.

A video also means you can have a translation on hand in any languages you need.

“Sure God love the murderers and rapists. They be awful anxious about prison.”

    21. eejit1991 on

Local man convicted of multiple murders has been sentenced by judge martin nolan to 3 months of watching the video (suspended)

Ah God love them, imagine if the anxiety of going to prison actually caused people to stop and think about their actions then society might be a little bit better off. Instead, we get a paid promotion of the lovely time one will have on a state sponsored holiday.

    23. WolfetoneRebel on

What a waste of time and money. We need a low cost barebones person built for The worst of the worst. Free up regular person space for less serious offenders. Not this shite.

    24. RubDue9412 on

And what about the victims of their crimes what about their anxiety and sleepless nights. If you don’t want to worry what a spell in prison’s going to be like don’t commit crimes. I swear just when you think the country can’t get any worse it just does.

    25. Vodka-Knot on

Unless I have this wrong, surely we’re SUPPOSED to be anxious about going to jail.

      Isn’t that, the entire point?

    26. Acceptable-Book-1417 on

Offs, we’re worried about the anxiety of prisoners now. Please make it stop, they’re fucking prisoners and are there to pay for their crimes, its not supposed to be fun. Make them as anxious as fucking possible.
