Another one to remember for the “arrested for mean words said online” crowd I see.

Same but I’m not a complete prick. I do hate to see these plainly obvious attempts to try and essentially say that he did it because he’s autistic and thus he isn’t at fault. Autism can certainly provide a greater insight into certain behaviour but it’s not excuse to do shitty and horrible things.
Mob mentality ect ect but there’s no reforming someone like this. Let them rot for the rest of their lives.
Opinions will be divided on this I’m sure but before social media, free speech would be ‘socially policed’ by the speaker’s local community. You spout shite all day long, people local to you get wind of it, think less of you for it and you might struggle to find work afterwards for example.
Social media means people have the ability to shout across the country with no local kickback to themselves. So I think some policing (can’t think of a better term, sorry) is required unfortunately.
It is such a shame that the person that took their own life felt they had nowhere else to turn, no-one else to talk to.

I’m autistic and that is no fucking excuse for doing what he did, the fact that people even try and use autism as an excuse for this is absolutely fucking disgusting. While I don’t often like to see people sentenced to prison for shit they’ve said online, he 100% deserves every single day of that 9 year sentence.
