well….at least its not McGregor
Hanafin is a hardline catholic fundamentalist and Bertie is a criminal and McGuinness proposed giving religious organisations a back channel to lobby the EU so at this point Michelle o Neill looks like a good candidate with Sean Kelly as next least objectionable non loony, non criminal.
Awful list of candidates. Sean Kelly would be the best of a bad bunch for me
What’s with this sudden spate of Ahern astroturfing? It’s ostensibly bizarre and you’d wanna imagine even Ahern wouldn’t want the glare of his past actions re-interoggated during an election campaign. Maybe it’s just yet more Silly Season.
> Sinn Féin First Minister Michelle O’Neill is emerging as a credible candidate for her party, coming in at 18pc, ahead of Gerry Adams on 10pc, and North Belfast MP John Finucane on 7pc.
I really don’t see how she’s credible; Martin McGuiness tried his hand and I think it revealed how irrelevant he was to politics and the public of the South. You’d wanna imagine it’s the same with O’Neill. Even O’Neill herself must see there’s more useful, immediate work she can achieve in Storemont than sitting in the Àras
We need someone in the race smart enough to listen to people who know what they’re talking about while able to properly represent the Irish people.
Fuck it, let’s give Manchán Magan a shot. I’m sure he’d keep the Aras full of doggos.
McGuiness would be the easy choice from that line up.
On the one hand, I hope Bertie runs. It’d be great to see his opponents visciously and relentlessly attack him for his shady past.
One the other hand, I don’t trust the electorate not to vote him in especially given the poor quality of his likely opponents…
