A few weeks ago, the police were asking the government for more money to police Notting Hill Carnival, and responses have been that NHC should contribute financially to policing. Now, the police are asking for football clubs to contribute financially to policing.
In the long run, it seems the police will be asking for organisers and organisations that have large-scale events to start contributing financially to policing.
I always thought clubs did? Considering the extra policing you need for football games (especially high profile ones) feels only right they should pay
Seems fair, they’re ticketed events and they’re requiring police time. Why should tax payers pay for football games to be policed when a scrap of the ticket price could easily pay for it. especially in times of rife police underfunding.
Sounds fair to me. If places making profit but require a police presence to keep the peace, they should pay for it.
I went through the CRP training in order to become a PCSO. I quit after completion for a few reasons. But one moment in particular that stood out was a fellow trainee who openly debated that it was his wife’s duty to have sex with him whenever he wanted, and didn’t understand the point of view that she may not want to. This was brought up when talking about dealing with domestic abuse cases.
I know this person to be in the Met police now.
If they want more money, they need to consider the amount of money they are currently wasting.
This is something which always puzzles me
If a protests rocks up or and requires police intervention then should they also have to pay?
It seems weird that you have to pay extra for policing but I get why it’s done
Or maybe the club owners could pay their taxes in the UK rather than abroad?
Do the companies that arrange gigs and events pay for the policing of them? Genuine question as I don’t know.
If they do then I think the same should apply to clubs.
I kinda assumed they would already have to pay for policing. If Glastonbury festival (which is a charity) has to pay towards policing why shouldn’t all large events? It’s just the cost of doing business.
Private businesses paying the police is a slippery slope to the police being a private security force, with conflicts of interest.
They should.

Wtf? Why aren’t they paying?! I don’t want my tax money going towards paying for this shit sport because people are thugs and can’t accept their team losing like fucking children.
