If we were to assess if more money is lost in Ireland to A. Government Corruption or B. Profiteers Profiting. What would be the outcome?

If we assessed whether the Irish people received more services and goods in return for A. Taxes or B. Payment. What would be the outcome?

    3. If only he knew someone who had the power to do something about the issue at hand. Oh well, maybe it’ll just sort itself out

Nothing to do with many of these builders not repaying debts in the past and costing the banks a lot of money though I’m sure.

I am no fan of the financial system and its actors but I agree with the banks about not lending out money hand over fist to developers.

Don’t you know that the second the rules are relaxed for lending to builders there would be calls that lending rules for first-time buyers need to be relaxed also and the prices will go ape shit.

Adding in easy credit to the market will contribute to the type of bubbles we have seen before.

Our economy is already overheating, the low interest rates set by the ECB are a factor in all of this. If we still have our own central bank in currency rates could be set high to cool everything down. All these restrictions on unending are about the only way Irish banks can do something to protect themselves.

They don’t want to be left holding the bag if everything goes to shit with global finances again.

In the past, banks were criticised for lending too much to housing developers, now the banks have over corrected. However the issue does come back to cost and availability, the costs of building have risen dramatically and even the cost of getting a project through planning, only after a project is through planning can a developer get a loan. The government are complaining about every decision they have to make around housing, the problem is that they are years too late already.

Banks should have been nationalized back then and have them working for the people instead of profiting off them

So is he proposing a government scheme to either lend direct to builders or underwrite loans to builders by the banks?  Because if not, he’s not interested in a solution.
