Bless him, poor man. Must be hard to earn a humble crust.

He can barely string a sentence together. Who are these tv execs who think rooney has a future as a pundit?

Wild that he’s only 39, He looks at least 10 years older.

I do find it baffling that the Beeb were handed a golden egg in Lineker leaving, and they’ve decided to use half of that saving on… Wayne Rooney. The pundits aren’t the problem on MOTD, the new hosts won’t be either. The problem is how easy highlights are to access nowadays. I’m not sure someone like Rooney giving his views is going to turn the tide

We’ve got some god awful pundits on our TV at the moment. Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Rio Ferdinand, and now this buffoon.

This is going to play out like Top Gear. People want hosts/pundits who have chemistry with each other and who maybe even can string together an entertaining & informative sentence every now and then, but the BBC have no idea how to deliver that so they just sign up someone very famous in the hope their recognisable name can carry the show.

Will be interesting if the BBC sign up Jamie Vardy when he retires from playing.

nobody in the world is as good at their job as Wayne Rooneys agent.

Not known as the most articulate man.
Do you just have to be a very famous ex-footballer? Would have hoped the job brief was asking for a little bit more than that.

I bet they asked Dion Dublin but then Homes Under the Hammer got wind of it and put in a better offer.

The BBC are the worst negotiators in the history of mankind.
There are thousands of competent, informed people who would be a pundit on MOTD for free. Why are they paying Rooney, who has repeatedly shown he has the footballing intellect of a gravy boat, £800k?

He’s got a face for radio, and his football knowledge saw him getting regularly sacked for catastrophic relegations of established Championship clubs. What can possibly go wrong?

Thats a massive step up from being a kids football coach in Dubais version of butlins

This man just lands on his feet every single time doesn’t he. Dire manager career. And now this when he’s far from the most articulate. Deary me.

Can this not be done for less?
Im dont watch the show but is it more about the punditry than the football itself?

Why are non performers being rewarded. His managerial career has been awful. What knowledge can he bring
