And they dare calling themselves Christian? What a shame. Seeking asylum is part of the Human Rights, the highest of the laws.

If they ever have to leave their country and seek asylum themselves, I hope they won’t complain if they are treated the same.

Just wait for Erdogan to fall from power. The gates of hell will open wide and cause countless numbers of Syrians and Afghans to migrate.

The asylum system need to be reviewed and reorganized. Firm rules on what qualifies and rules on what happens if you’re denied. A notice to leave has the force of a wet noodle.

No more nonsense lost passports, fake claims of being underage.

Are they migrants or asylum seekers? They can’t be both.

Asylum should be claimed at embassies of neighbouring countries.

Reduces human trafficking and smuggler rings, and saves lives on small boats.

This notion of crossing continents and *still* seeking immediate asylum is broken.

Countries should have a short pre approved white list of countries…

Greece should arrest all male migrants aged up to 90 & put them in detention centres & charge them with illegal entry. They should then be imprisoned for 6 months & then deported back to Libya or their home countries. Europe is not the dustbin of the world to pass on their excess populations.

Does it actually solve anything? If first someone sets foot on a greek island, then it’s Greece’s problem. Greece still has to establish the national identity of the person and the country of origin still has to accept the person being deported.

The Trump playbook coming to Europe.

“Immigrant bad” “helping people in need bad” “empathy bad”

Good, more european countries need to do the same

Thank fuck. In a few decades Greece will likely be one of the few countries you can go to get away from them.

i’m sure this will be a polite discussion involving the recent diplomatic incident with lybia

      right?

Why do individual countries have to do this whilst being ignored by the EU ?

There is also a big difference between genuine asylum seekers & economic migrants looking for free handouts. Last I checked there is no war in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt or the other countries they’re coming from. Trump is right & Europe will now following his lead. Even the Germans have had enough.

People with legitimate asylum needs should be cared for. Sadly the current system is broken, I really hope we can find a way to fix it. I want to be able to tell my children that we are the good guys.

I think it is also time to start monitoring those NGO that go and help them in the sea, make sure they board a safer ship, deposit them on a small one closer to the shore thus helping them reach their destination. For the time being we are throwing them lifesavers, but if this keep going it would end up replaced by something else that we all wish to avoid: brutal force.
