Just tax AI usage across the board. And you will have enough money for early retirement for everyone.

    2. hoopla_poodle_noodle on

Give it a few decades and they’ll be moaning about the ‘productivity crisis’ because we’re all selfishly not fucked with working anymore at 70.

“People are living longer so you will have to work longer.”

Spend your whole working life being gouged at every corner to the point you and everyone you know can barely afford to have kids, and many choose not to / miss the opportunity to.

“Not enough people are being born, so you have to stay at work longer”.

Remember that when you are dying at a desk aged 70 it’s to serve the precise c word’s that spent all your life gouging you for rent, expensive health insurance and doing their absolute best to fuck up the housing market to drive up price.

Oh and continuing to work longer won’t solve anything cause chances are by staying your later years at work you are not contributing to the raising of grandchildren, nieces, nephews or doing community work that all contributes to reducing the real world burdens associated with raising kids.

Oh, and when you are crippled and demented that house you spent your life trying to pay off – they are gonna take that to cover the nursing home costs.

      Enjoy plebs

“To address the impact this downfall will have on economic growth, the organisation called for greater involvement of “untapped labour resources” including women, older people in good health and migrants.”
      ORRR hear me out
We make gaffs accessibly priced for young people
Young people then have security to build families

It’s this bloody I’m alright Jack mentality 90% of the country have that’s ruining us and will ruin them too but they’re too dumb to realise.

There is something incredibly disgusting about viewing humans solely as economic units of production.

No consideration or thought given to the social, ethnic, national and cultural implications of what they suggest.

“The population is too old and people won’t have children but need more money so lets just replace everyone with migrant workers!”

This is pretty much how ‘globalised’ corporations and governments view you and society.

    6. fakemoosefacts on

Will the population not be easily replaced by all the sea people fleeing global warming in the south?

    7. As punishment for having two individuals having to work for a living in order to provide for a family, we’re gonna make you all work even longer

    8. Difficult-Worry-2649 on

It’s all okay, guys. The neoliberal economists always say that we will escape the consequences of low fertility through increased immigration!

Wait… increasing immigration is working, right?

    9. Or the older workers NOW should pay for their own retirement by working longer, instead of my generation paying for theirs and having none ourselves

    10. keavenen on

The way they will bring this in is by giving people a 4 day work week but you will have to work until 70+

    11. insomnium2020 on

There’s no one giving you a job once you pass 60, maybe you could work beyond that in continuing service but a redundancy at that age is curtains

    12. lace_chaps on

That’s some tail wagging the dog dystopian bs, telling people that servicing the current economic paradigm is their existential imperative. Christ on a tandem.

    13. Dingofthedong on

Isn’t this why we import so much unskilled labour?

Is that not working? Are they integrating and being more like us and not having kids anymore?

      Funny twist

    14. news_feed_me on

Fertility plummets because people work too much. People work too much because the cost for living is too high. Cost of living is high because companies exist to make profits, not provide the best products or sevices. Companies are greedy for profit because they’re run by very selfish people. They are run by very selfish people because business requires a capacity to be cruel. It requires this because laws do not constrain cruelty for profit. They don’t because the selfish people who seeks profits through cruelty partner with the selfish people who seek political power to write laws that let them be cruel to everyone.

It’s fundamentally that people who have no empathy act cruelly to profit themselves and nothing effectively stops them.

Fine, if the govt can provide free childcare for workers between 7am and 6pm for 5 days a week then I’ll have as many kids as you want

    16. This plan will be implemented to sting those of us who are working and paying tax to support the elderly now. They would never turn around and say, “fuck lads we’re on a bad track here. Listen, pensioners, will ye cough up a few pound to make sure that we can afford to pay the future pensions?”

The last 40 years of western society has been an absolutely gargantuan transfer of wealth from young people over to their older counterparts. Picture this scenario: a pensioner rents a gaff to a young worker who is in receipt of HAP. So the tenant pays the rent, the taxpayer (of which the tenant is one), pays the HAP, which also goes to this hypothetical auld lad, and then that tenant/taxpayer combo are also paying money so that this millionaire gets 300 quid a week off the state. Even if not renting directly, good chance the money ends up in your hypothetical man’s back pocket because who owns a lot of property in Ireland only the pension funds!

The weight of the older and the elderly people in society is absolutely crushing on the backs of people who actually still work for a living. “They want something for nothing” goes the cliche, well my age group will have given something huge in return for absolutely nothing. We’ll have paid tax our whole lives at similar or the same levels as our predecessors and we won’t get the pension that they got, nor the standard of care in old age most likely.

The gerontocracy blocks housing, nightlife reform, progress in all shapes and sizes. No, no, no is the refrain of the joyless cunts who are turning this island into a dead end. We had everything to play for, and we let stupid auld fuckers have their way in every facet of life.

One minute we’re hearing all jobs are going to be taken over by AI and robots. The next we’re hearing there won’t be enough people to do all the jobs.

Retirement plan is a 6ft box beneath 6ft of dirt. At this point that’s all there’ll be.

There’s not much to look forward to when you’re elderly anyway – I’ve done work in the grannyschwitz’s around the place where you see the elderly locked alone in their rooms basically waiting to die, but not really allowed to until the home’s taken them for everything they had. Fucking depressing places.

    19. ashfeawen on

There’s not enough housing to have kids in. Plenty of people can’t get a mortgage until their biological clock is half spent

You gotta laugh at all this useless governments talking shite.

Invest billions into longevity treatments. We need to get the average OECD healthy life span to 150. The technology is just decades away it just needs the investment.

    22. urmyleander on

Yes i wonder why younger people aren’t making babies….. its not like they are overworked, underpaid and priced out of ever owning homes with their future to be paying rent till they die…

    23. Max-Battenberg on

Who could have foreseen that 20-40 year olds priced out of owning a home could lead to not enough births..

I wonder what will be there when I retire unless we just import the working population

What we need is a good big world war, and we should join in this time.
