Does anyone even receive post on a regular basis? I get 1-2 deliveries a week at best and it’s normally a clump of letters dated 7-15 days ago.

I get roughly 3 deliveries a week with a minimum of 3 letters per time. Often this includes Saturday and the letters are mostly sent by 2nd class post.

Yay, lower standards that they’ll still somehow manage to fall short of.

Must be a major blow for the dozen or so people still regularly sending letters.

Honestly, I don’t really care about whether I get post on Saturdays.
But Royal Mail was sold to private owners on the condition that they would maintain the USO. And since they’re failing to do so, we should be getting some of that money (or those shares) back.

Even the US knew not to privatise their postal system. Back in 2003 we were getting two deliveries a day and a first class stamp was 28p ,which is around 51p today when adjusted. There’s no way to make money off that, and we shouldn’t have too. It’s a service.

Royal Mail does seem to be on borrowed time.
I’m wondering if it’ll still be around in 10 years time.

The age of letters is dead. Cut the service to twice weekly (even then still very generous) and it stands a chance of being viable.

I work for them and I don’t even take 1st class mail out most of the time if I get put on a round that’s backed up with multiple days mail. If you want anything being delivered on time (including letters) send it TRACKED. That’s all they care about as that’s what they base the manager bonus on. Doesn’t even matter if it’s an NHS letter.

Feels like they did this in 2020 based on my lived experience.

Royal Mail are a disgrace. Nationalise and fuck those greedy execs off

Yeah, I mean don’t inconvenience yourselves. If you get a chance to pop my letter through the letterbox at some point that’d be great but don’t stress about it, I appreciate the favour you are doing all of us whilst you are busy trying to run a business, doing…..whatever it is that you do.

We tend to get letters once a week and parcels rarely. The parcel tracking will claim we weren’t in despite the Ring doorbell showing no one even came to the house. I wish they were just honest on the tracking and said they weren’t able to deliver for whatever reason instead of lying and placing the blame on the customer.
