      > European Commission president defeats far-right plan to bring her down.

      Is it though?

Another slap on the face to far right nut jobs. Well done

I still dont Like her. But since i hate the far right its Kind of ok

    4. GlitterNailx on

This result was expected as most major political groups had indicated they would not support the no-confidence motion.

    5. xExerionx on

Good for her but didnt expect anything less. Lets focus back on kicking out Orban

      > If she had lost the vote, von der Leyen and the rest of her Commission would have had to stand down, throwing the EU into chaos.

      Chaos?

The EU Parliament has the power to vote down the Commission President & Commissioners, just like national Parliaments can vote down their Prime Minister & Cabinet Ministers, is democracy functioning. She’s not the Queen of Europe who gets to rule without consent.

That’s proof the **directly** elected EU lawmakers (MEPs) are in charge. But of course POLITICO sells this as negative.

      Anything to sell clicks. Lmao.

There you see how strong the corruption even within the EU is. Von der leyen is a person who should’ve been forced out of politics years ago now confidently stays in one of the most powerful positions within the EU.

    8. greenpowerman99 on

Less than 1 in 4 MEPs voted to censure Von der Leyen. That is the real story…

    9. Emma_Harper_PS on

Not a surprising outcome. The question is what von der Leyen does next.

    10. CertainCertainties on

Hang on. An overwhelming vote of confidence in Von der Leyen and the article says that’s a problem for her?

    11. greekch1mera on

really bad for Europe…but ok…we are anyway creating the EUSSR…except, that no one is realizing it

    12. Don’t like her, but she’s still better than the far-right fascist scum, so the (much) lesser of two evils won and so this is a good thing.

    13. blackrain1709 on

I’m not right wing or anything, but how anyone supports Von Der Leyen is beyond me. She supports literal fascist dictator in Serbia and applauds his democracy every few months. Right now Serbian police are beating up and arresting peaceful protests.

Ursula is the embodiment of everything wrong with the EU.

    14. owlexe23 on

Right wing loves her for her dedication to the military industrial complex.

    15. Ancient_Ship2980 on

Yippee! Yahoo! Hooray! Go, Ursula Von der Leyen go!

    16. leaflock7 on

there is no chaos politico with your BS news.
we are in a downfall and will continue to be , especially with Ursula and her staff up there

Again politicians defend their own even if there are clear signs something is not right.

To me, she fell from grace with her position supporting the genocide terrorists from Israel. I know this was a motion done by far-right parties, and not for the reason I dislike her so much now, but I think she should be ashamed and step down. I used to like her a lot, I think she did an awesome job in the pandemic, and was doing a “somewhat” ok job with Ukraine, but she shat all over that, and for what, lobbyists? What a disgrace, shame on Von der Leyen.

    19. Darjuz96 on

And I just imaginated Draghi as president of the European Commission

    20. Tuxedotux83 on

If I would have done a tenth of what she did, I would probably already be behind bars for a good few years, not “re-elected” or sitting on any comfortable and influential role.

After you understand this, you will also understand why lots of stuff is fucked on the government level, and even worse at EU level.
