you can see the impact of the bad wind season this winter, as the sudden gap with wind and solar share below 30% from December to February
**this winter saw one of the worst seasons for wind generation in the past 2 decades at the European level**
**nonetheless, the worst month this winter still saw a higher wind power generation than the best month in winters before 2018**
so seasonal winter power generation and/or storage remains a problem to be solved in the future, but every other season is already solvable with current wind+solar tech prices
and even then, yearly variation goes both ways, will mean that in the future we have winters when fossil fuels account for 20% of power generation and also winters when fossil fuels are less than 5% of power generation
Beautiful. Hope the fossil fuel percentage gets to 0 as quickly as possible. Even if somebody doesn’t give a shit about global warming or air quality, they should definitely care that as long as we are using a single ton of natural gas, we can be blackmailed. Nobody can take away the sun, wind, waves, rivers or geothermal power.
Beautiful. Hopefully we can soon start adding some wave electricity to balance it out, there are quite a few promising prototypes in work.

Meanwhile the ever-rightist EPP and the far right want to cull any effort towards solar and wind. You never know, you could end up free from the constraints of Middle East politics and Russian meddling. Bad news for the doom-sayers and those who profit from these carbon-laced situation rents!
