Damnit Denmark. Spying on Sweden on behalf of the USA and buying even more American aircraft. This isn’t a good look at all with all that has been happening.

it’s a little strange to buy from the one that threatens you (ok greenland is not “theirs” but still). but i guess that they don’t really have a choice since europe still doesn’t have a stealth fighter

Denmark is trying to avert more tariff from Trump on pharmaceuticals by announcing about buying a few F-35s

I wonder if the recent Israeli-Iran conflict has anything to do with these uptick in purchases it seemed to do really good over there exceeding expectations in terms of distances of sorties.

Best plane available at a comparative price. Makes perfect sense

Rearm Europe = buying overpriced planes from USA.

      Pathetic

It is pretty simple. Danes didn’t like when it was announced earlier this year where most of the conversation was the defence minister trying to defend why Denmark should buy it and polls also showed it. The fact is just running a fighter jet is expensive in terms of education for pilots, ground crew and spare parts so having two different planes in a so small Airforce is just not smart. Relying on US completely on air defence is neither, looking at the new air defence in Denmark, it is some temporarily borrow from Spain and Norway and long term bought from Germany and France.

Hopefully 6 gen will be a European fighter.

    8. So much for European Defense.

Buying a plane from the country that threatens to invade you is not a smart move.

      Thanks for nothing Denmark.

    9. Well I am sure this will deter the US from annexing Greenland.

F-35s are very expensive. Are they really the best value for what they offer in today’s warfare?

Somehow I feel nowadays it’s a numbers game.

They better choose samp/t ng then if they want France help because complaining that you are gonna be invaded and buying from the invaders is not the smartest, at some point some just can’t be helped, sell Greenland at this point.

    12. CataphractBunny on

They have to defend Greenland with something, I guess.

The f*ck Denmark, the bully threaten you to annexe Greenland and you give them more money for their expansive fancy boom boom aircraft…

I know some prostitute with more dignity.

As I see it, if shits goes south, and our F35 are bricked/cut off from key functions, well, then we have much bigger problems than a pile of money wasted…

So, it makes sense to buy more F35, even though everything screams to not support anything American these days.

Europe can simply not stay afloat militarily without American support (not boots on ground, but tech wise), and until we are able to do so, we better try and make the divorce work as good as possible.

    15. will_dormer on

So we have some more planes if America attacks greenland

While I think it’s a good thing that Europe and Denmark is rearming to strengthen our own defense, I also believe we should be focusing more on sourcing aircraft from within the EU. It’s important that we invest in and expand our own capacity to develop and produce modern weaponry. That said, I do understand the immediate need for, modern fighters like the F-35, even if it means looking outside Europe for now.

    17. Hylarion-Lefuneste on

Why buy american shit planes? They have the kill code. They can drop the planes out of the sky whenever Trump feels like it.

    18. GandalfTheSexay on

Good. Europe and US will remain allies regardless of whatever pro-Russian propaganda tries to influence everyone to believe
