More will die in winter than summer but it doesn’t for the narrative for the media. Yes any death is sad but this green agenda is destroying the economy. More people will die being in poverty than a warm couple of days in the uk

    2. For those without fans and AC, put some wet facecloths or towels in the freezer or fridge. Failing that cold water on your chest, upper thighs and arms. The evaporation will bring some relief

“Eee by ‘eck lad, the gret heatwave of ’76 never harmed anyone. Bunch er fannies nardays.” -artists impression of the boomers on my social media

evidently not understanding that the people it did harm aren’t around to post about it on Facebook

People need to stop going out in jeans, socks and trainers. Just saw a bloke wearing two hoodies and a cap WTF are people doing???

If I had a beer every time I saw or heard ‘1976’, I’d be Boris Yeltsin 2.0.

The UK’s houses and buildings are largely built for weather that we don’t have anymore. It starts getting uncomfortably hot for me in April. Summers go into September and sometimes even October can have the odd scorcher. Winters are obviously cooler but they aren’t the winters I remember from the 90s, they are just like dull autumn days. It doesn’t always snow either, and I’m in Scotland btw.

It is absolutely roasting here today. My dogs are lying flat on the floor and groaning. One has longer hair and refused to go out.

Who actually dies when it’s 30 degrees outside? When it was 40 a couple of years ago, fair enough, but this isn’t even that hot

In 6 months the headlines would be Frozen Britain in parts of the UK as rise in deaths likely.

Glad I spent the money on integrated AC for the house. Only use it a few times a year, but it’s more than paid for itself from the comfort it brings!

This is the third or fourth time they’ve run this headline, or one very similar, since May. Each time the bricks get a little bit hotter and don’t get enough time to cool down turning our houses into pizza ovens.

The sunshine is nice and all but really hope this is the last time I read this headline. Bring the rain.

A reminder that this UKHSA warnings aren’t intended for the general public.

These are mostly for agencies to prepare for hot weather related issues. So more people at beaches and lakes, more vulnerable people requiring support and traffic congestion to tourist spots.

If you are a normal generally healthy person there is nothing to worry about. If there is a real danger to the general public from extreme heat the metoffice will issue a wether warning.

It’s like two extremes out there at the moment

People dressed for the middle of winter, and people walking around half naked
