Hard to believe we continue to have record surpluses and still no proper investment in housing.
And all we hear is the same old Charlie Haughey line of “prepare to tighten the belt.”
€7.5 billion surplus and they are cutting social projects left and right.
Now, a tough budget is announced.
They obviously know things are gonna get really bad.
Will these tariffs fall under the TACO (Trump Always Chicken’s Out) definition?
Hmm….the tariffs are paid by the US taxpayer, not the EU, and I would like to think our politicians are smart enough, to impose counter tariffs that don’t kill our economy. And last time around the exports to the US increased even with tariffs, so instead of fear mongering, let’s all be cool. It will not be a give away budget, there are no elections after all :-), but there is no need to crack each others heads open and feast on the goo inside either…..

They’re just happy they have someone to blame. Watch they’ll still magically not see any of the fallout and will still push through jobs for the boyos.
What could actually be tougher for working people? More taxes? Less opportunity to get a house? Higher rents are already here. Cost of living is already crazy.
They need to cut the dole for people on it long term. It’s enough. Ireland nannies these people way too much. Not people with disabilities. Not people who are unfit to work. The ones who live to drain the welfare system and there’s a lot of them. They need to get off their holes and work. They might have less time to go to racist marches too.
We could equip every single roof with solar panels, install batteries and micro balancers in about 3 years with that surplus. We could solve HSE issues with 2 years if that surplus. We could do a lot.
But who cares.
No chance they could cut spending?
Why exactly? We already pay a large amount of tax.

We are a small country with an open economy, just have to grin and bear it for now and hope we get a dovish administration in America next time around
