La flotta UK F -35 scarsamente supportata, non può usare armi vitali: i jet invisibili non possono combattere, non possono volare molto e non possono sparare ai missili del Regno Unito, afferma l’ufficio di audit nazionale del Regno Unito.

TL;DR insufficient ground personnel per plane & parts shortages from suppliers & delays within Lockheed Martin rolling out features.

Great, lets buy more and mothball our Eurofighter production lines!

The U.K. is such a fascinating country, everything it touches turns to shit

UK can’t get parts for their jets but yet at the same time selling F-35 parts to Israel?

Great to publicise this before dealing with it. Wargaming at its best.

Buy Rafale and Gripen, at least they work and fire missiles, and work well against Russian aircraft.

    7. I’ve never heard about The Register before. Is this a trustworthy source and what are their leanings?

Even though it’s convenient to blame it on the F-35 and the US, most of these problems, like personal shortage, doesn’t have anything to do with the jet itself whatsoever.

      Ja Switzerland also bought those. As European Federlist I preferred the E U R O F I G H T E R !!!!!!!

Finland ordered these shitty F-35 over 60 pieces. Useless crap. Could get multiple drone factories

The F35 availability rate is only 50%, due to shortage of parts and costly maintenance.

The Rafale’s availability rate is 90% for comparison

    12. Why can’t Europe make their own equipment rather than relying on the US R&D/Manufacturing?

Why the hell will it take 5 years to get the f35 to shoot meteors? This sounds utterly ridiculous considering we have the source code. Sounds like a means to rip us off.

These jet fighters are very fragile and very demanding (maintenance and repair). Despite the massive scale of this program making it cheaper, it is still too expensive and doesn’t make sense to have a fleet of these jet fighters that are all in but name controlled by US. You can not get close without their permission. You can not make adjustments or updates, only they can. You can not use them without asking for their permission. You can not even look at the inside of these planes as a most trusted owner and operator.

You can only literally fly and host them.

Even then, we don’t know how reliable these are. The only “combat” these so far have seen is the Israeli F-35s flying to Iraq and launching warheads before turning and running away, never coming close to the Iranian airspace during the 12-day war.

It is suicide to replace your airforce with these jet fighters. Something that Netherlands, UK and others are keen on doing just to appease US for political and economic reasons.

We keep seeing articles produced for propaganda purposes about how unreliable US is as an ally and people here hound Trump, and praise EU for initiatives to grow its industry. The reality is that EU is sucking up to US as it always has since WW2. This article complains. We just had another article this week about UK buying more of these jets. You decide which is more real.

I remember people wondering why Germany had such a high budget allocated for the 35 F-35s it initially ordered. This might somewhat show that the cost might just be too low in other countries.

      >The report states that the original support date for the [Spear 3 air-to-surface cruise missile](https://www.theregister.com/2024/11/18/uk_test_fires_spear_mini_cruise_missile/) and the [Meteor](https://www.mbda-systems.com/products/air-dominance/meteor) medium range air-to-air missile was December last year, but the F-35 is not expected to get these until the early 2030s.

“Hiya mate, as you might’ve noticed, we missed the 2024 date we agreed on. Sooo, how does 2032 sound?”
