In nome del padre (1993) – ingiustizia e resistenza contro la corona

Set in 1970s Belfast and London, the film follows Gerry Conlon (Daniel Day-Lewis), a young Irishman falsely accused of involvement in an IRA bombing, and the years-long legal battle to prove his and his father’s innocence against the British Government.

I recently rewatched *In the Name of the Father* (1993),Jim Sheridan (my left foot, brothers, the boxer, in america).

Daniel Day-Lewis delivers one of his most emotionally raw performances as Gerry Conlon, while Pete Postlethwaite matches with both actors displaying total humanity throughout the story. His quiet strength as Giuseppe carries so much weight.

The story of the Guildford Four is heartbreaking on its own, but this film elevates it through restraint and craft. It’s political without being preachy, and personal without being melodramatic.

A good few Irish movies in the past tended to fly underneath the radar. Any reccomendations please post below.
