Eastern Germany will rejoice. They often have to deal with heavy smog from their neighbors.

      It’s great!

But I’m often criticizing renewable for other reasons, the problem is winter.

The lack of winter protection means all non renewable capacities have to be kept 100% operational for dark December night. Wind and solar often produce close to 0% nameplate capacity.

Good thing coming from bad things, global warming will make winters much milder decreasing load and A/C that will soon be needed to survive summer high heat is perfect fit for solar.

Long way still to go but it’s good to hear. With our climate (no wind and no sun in the winter) we need nuclear to finally ditch the coal. Sadly it’s at least 10 years away if not more.

The worst part is that we already had a NPP that was ~50% built but it was stopped in the 90s as “too expensive” and not needed. The people who did it should rot in hell.

    4. Seriously coal should be zero in all of europe. Look at Germany for example, 26% in 2024 (electricy from coal) its a joke. Build more nuclear, wind and solar.
