      That’s cowardly Royal Society.

I’m sure the reason they haven’t removed it is due to lawyers saying they will be sued by him. But still, dude is an overt Nazi.

The UK society for general microbiology (now micro society) had a similar issue. They gave a prestigious award to someone who turned out faked a bunch of data. When the committee voted to remove the award, the societies legal and governance team said they couldn’t as there were no rules or procedures in place to stripe someone of the award. They asked him to renounce it. He refused.

The Royal Society claims to reject blanket boycotts of academics based on nationality, race, religion, or political belief, but their actions tell a different story. They’ve channelled millions into Israeli scientific institutions through fellowships, partnerships, and programmes like BIRAX, yet haven’t sent a single penny to support Palestinian academics.

All the talk about universal scientific values rings hollow when their actions don’t match their claims. At this point, the fellowship feels less like a principled academic institution and more like a cult of prestige and double standards.

**Just a reminder:** [Royal Society decides not to take disciplinary action against Elon Musk](https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2025/mar/25/royal-society-decides-not-to-take-disciplinary-action-against-elon-musk)

The Royal Society have already made their position perfectly clear.

Any professional body worth its salt would have kicked Musk out for not upholding their professional code of ethics / code of conduct. As an organisation that is supposed to represent science they have chosen to vote to retain a member that empowers and funds antivaxxers, climate deniers, nazi’s (eugenics), and anti-abortionists.

They deserve to have their Royal Warrant revoked because it has no business being endorsed by the crown or holding the professional standing it currently has as a learned society (backed by the state) when it is willing to blatently operate in a corrupt manner.

Was there ever anything more British? “Royal Society politely and gently suggested that Elon consider resigning his science fellowship probably over a cup of tea”.

A better question might be, why did the Royal Society offer it to someone so obviously frivolous and shady in the first place.

So basically – if you’re rich you get endorsed by the Royal Society and there is no merit to anyone with a Fellowship of the Royal Society.

That’ll be the Royal Society that denied membership to women until 1945? I mean isn’t this pretty much right up their alley?

We are supposed to think highly of these people but when their membership includes some of the worst scum of humanity it makes me think of all members the way I think of Freemasons these days. That goes for Lords too.
