They’re really going in hard with the self-defence angle, but I’m also not sure of their reasoning here.
Are they suggesting that it’s OK to hit a male police officer? How did he not know they were police when they were looking directly at his hat.
Did the pair get charged with affray? If so, this genius move probably hasn’t helped this guy’s defence.
I’m not sure, watched it a few times. He lashes out at the first person he sees after breaking away from the initial arrest. I don’t think he has time to register it’s a woman. Second one? Don’t know.
His lies just get worse and worse. He would have done better to plead guilty. They should add 3 years for wasting the courts time.
that stomp at the end probably made the conviction way harder, but damn must have felt good in the moment.

“The defendant alleged Mr Ismael (a man who used racial slurs against the defendant’s mother onboard the flight) stepped towards him and shouted ‘do you know who I am?’ and ‘I’ll f***ing kill you’. Mr Amaaz (one of the men who was in the brawl) said he was ‘scared’ and wanted to get away so headbutted Ismaeil and then threw two punched although he said neither blow landed.
Mr Amaaz continued that as his family left Mr Ismaeil got on the phone and shouted ‘outside, five minutes’.
When he arrived at the car park pay station, he said felt being grabbed by the arms and he feared it was the people that Mr Ismaeil appeared to have called. He said he didn’t realise at first it was the police as the officers didn’t say anything to him.”
That video on the BBC shows the problem was started by the male police officer.
Grabs him by the head and shoves him down. That’s what kicked it all off. He then kicks and stamps on the guy in the head whilst the guy is on the floor having been tasered.
I am far more sympathetic to the bigger guy who tries to stop that male policeman off his brother. He gets sprayed as a result.
As for the guy in blue, dangerous raging violent reaction. But I can even see mitigation here. Gets grabbed from behind without warning. Head gets shoved down, released and sees his brother being accosted.
Blue guy should be punished for losing control and going into rage. But so should the male policeman.

Even if this were true (and it’s not) it has no relevance what sex his victims were.
Any assault of police should be a minimum of 10 years in my opinion.
Let’s see what happens. Highly unpopular opinion and I might be wrong, but I don’t think they will see a jail cell. Let’s see.
Nobody’s claiming the guy who smacked her is nice. Fine, throw the book at him. No objection.
The controversy is that one of the police stamped on the head of a man who was at that moment being paralysed by an electric shock weapon. That’s unacceptable. If you’re going to downvote this, you need to be able to explain why that’s okay, and “revenge” is not an answer that the law allows.
Overall I’m not very impressed with anyone involved in this. Obviously the two guys they were trying to arrest are foul thugs, but plod behaviour was escalatory throughout. One of the perpetrators claimed that plod rushed them from behind, giving them no warning or chance to come quietly. Video evidence suggests that’s mostly true.
The problem is that the sort of people who become police these days probably think that’s great.
They’re all Robocop until they need to justify the use of force, then they’ll claim they were all terrified for their lives. Plod picked a fight, because a lot of plod like a fight, and despite being trained, armed, armoured, outnumbering the bad guys and taking them by surprise, still managed to get beaten up.
It’s not great, however you look at it.
Isn’t the crime that it was assault and that it was police? Not the gender.
It’s pretty mental they have female police officers doing front line stuff like that. The general difference in weight and strength between men and women makes it potentially very dangerous, unless they take the American approach and use guns or tasers preemptively, which I don’t think anyone wants to see.
Watch him get radicalised in jail and commit the next big terror incident in 10-20 years.
The thing that bothers me about this and I’m not getting into any other part of this case is,

Call me harsh if you want but there are only two answers to that.
They ain’t fit to be a police officer.
That is playing it up for the camera and eventually the court.
Like Is said, not getting into anything else regarding this case but that’s not right.
That is unless you want a police force that is fucking useless for the job they are employed to do. I would say exactly the same if it was a bloke doing that.
