Younger brother snubbed university to get sparky apprenticeship. He made the right choice.

Massive oversaturation of university places and massive undersupply of jobs due to low-wage labour availability, poor productivity growth and garbage business conditions will do that to a country I’m afraid.

And watch the government blame them for being lazy. Never mind the severe lack of jobs for the graduates.

The government failing to uphold the social contract? Surely not!

I’ve just completed an apprenticeship and there’s absolutely no jobs going right now. I applied to a part time position which only offers 4 hours just so I could gain some experience, I know one of the people in the company and they stated on the first day of the job being posted, they already had five applications and they leaving it up for a month. I didn’t think a 4 hour post would be so competitive.

The worst part is, I really struggled doing the apprenticeship, it was very hard work but I was assured repeatedly it would pay off, well if I can’t find I job I won’t be able to meet the registration qualifications which would make my apprenticeship and all the extra hours I put in in my own time redundant.

But at least the government understands and is trying to help… oh wait, apparently according to them all young folk are just lazy work shy folks who just need to go to work.

No surprise, our current corporate overlords think that hiring graduates is pointless when you can just offshore or use AI.

Who cares about the future as long as this 1/4 is better than the last, and by the time it goes tits up who cares, they’ll have moved on to the next cosy exec job to do it all again.
