Unbelievably stupid. This is how Ukraine will lose the war in the long run. I hope there will be strong and concrete consequences from the EU. Ukrainian civil society must mobilise to pressure Zelensky, who I cannot believe thought this was ok to do

    2. Corrupted assholes. Make no mistake, this happens with Zelensky’s consent.

If anyone bothered to read the fucking article, both of these groups have suspected Russian agents within them. They were raided and evidence was allegedly found proving this.
I get having “independence” on these certain issues, but Russian propaganda and spy networks are all over the place. In time of war, it probably is better if the government watches these groups a bit more closely.

Make a bid for “Independence” when they have peace.

I think we should let Ukraine to deal with this. It was the absolute majority of the votes, and the country wants to join EU, and has been doing and incredible successful job at rooting out corruption.
The headline sounds biased to me.
But, I strongly recommend that each one do your own research.

“On July 21, several law enforcement agencies — including the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), and the State Bureau of Investigation — carried out sweeping searches of NABU and SAPO.
Fifteen NABU employees are under investigation on various grounds. The SBU justified the raids by citing suspected Russian infiltration and administrative misconduct, with allegations ranging from traffic violations to treason.
One NABU employee was detained on charges of spying for Russia, while another is accused of involvement in drug trafficking and ties to pro-Russian groups.”

      This seems important.
I’m not going to pretend I understand the context of all this, but perhaps a middle ground is needed instead? At least the article makes it our to be literally that those agencies will no longer be independent – which is bad, not least for Ukraine’s EU aspirations and support. But if there’s persons operating in those organisations that have charges as high as treason for spying, it’s also quite clear that more oversight is necessary.

This is a big deal and the entire West needs to let them know it’s not okay.
