      english translation:

Dmytro Kozyatynskyi, a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, called on Kyiv residents to gather on Tuesday evening for a protest after the adoption of the draft law on NABU and SAPO.

      Source: Kozyatynsky on Facebook

Details: He suggested gathering on the square near the Ivan Franko Theater at 20:00, as “this is the closest available place to the President’s Office.”

Direct speech: “As you know, today the Verkhovna Rada voted for changes that eliminate the independence of the anti-corruption system. MPs decided that NABU and SAPO should be subordinated to the Prosecutor General. So, take the cardboard boxes and make posters where you write everything you think about the recent attacks on the anti-corruption system.

We have already launched petitions to the President demanding that he veto this game. But until these petitions are approved, he can sign the bill. Therefore, we have no time. We need to come out today and demand that Zelensky not allow a return to the times of Yanukovych. So, see you in the evening.”

Read more: He also called on political parties and figures to refrain from supporting this action.

      Background:

On 22 July, the Verkhovna Rada passed in the second reading draft law No. 12414 ‘On Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine on Peculiarities of Pre-trial Investigation of Criminal Offences Related to Missing Persons under Special Circumstances in Martial Law’ with amendments that make the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office dependent on the decisions of the Prosecutor General.

The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, promptly signed the law into law.

The heads of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office called on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy not to sign Bill 12414, which effectively destroys the independence of the NABU and the SAPO.

The ambassadors of the Group of Seven countries expressed concern about the SBU’s investigative actions against the NABU.

The European Union has also expressed concern over Ukraine’s recent actions against its anti-corruption institutions NABU and SAPO.

As much as we support everyone’s right to protest, doing it in this city at this time, is I think a very bad idea.

It’s not the best time for protests. Our enemy can take advantage of this. The main thing now is to win the war, and then we’ll figure it out.

Tbf trying to limit the anti corruption agency’s power in a country with corruption issues does not seem to be wise

      So, what do we have?

      Elections are banned during wartime.
      Protests are banned during wartime.
Zelensky’s quote: *”The Constitution is on pause during the war.”*
Human rights have been restricted during the war.
All power has been consolidated in the hands of one man — because of the war.
The war was never officially declared.
And a change of leadership is impossible while the war continues.

      Very interesting, isn’t it?

The government is playing with fire. People will not tolerate the passing of some absurd laws, as they proved in 2014

Edit: OP is a russian bot, but it’s true. There’s protests in Kyiv, Lviv and I think Dnipro against this dumb bill
