A Union Chief. Corrupt?!? Surely not! I for one am reeling at this information. I was told only CEOs are corrupt and unions are infallible organisations for the working man!

It’s been known for years that Len wasn’t exactly playing fair.

Len McCluskey appears to be an archetypal corrupt union boss.
This is why the right barely actually talks about the left, they know perfectly well they can rely on it to defeat itself

As a socialist, this is a prime example of why full on socialism, let alone communism, cannot work until technology has moved on a LONG way, could be hundreds of years, could be a few thousand.
There’s always going to be someone taking the bait and thinking they can skim something off the top for themselves, abusing their position, taking a backhander.
The only way it could properly work is if technology is so advanced there’s no need for things like trade unions.

If only we actually punished corruption, or at the very least made it more of a societal taboo to make folk like this a pariah rather than just accepting shit things happen by shit people.

Always remember McCluskey talking about how Corbyn still did well he was “popular” literally just after he got smashed in the election 2019.
Now I’ve learned not only does the bloke support losers he is also highly corrupt.

Unions and blatant corruption. Name a more iconic duo.

Don’t forget the time he used Union sub money to try to mitigate the PR disaster of the “Jez-Fest” Labour Live festival (and no union members weren’t balloted on this!). Can’t have his mate have a bad day!
Anyone with eyes could see he was a bit dodgy one from the start.

My boss had a meeting with him and others at a labour party conf few years ago, was hosted in their huge suite at the conference and was champagne on arrival into the room at like lunchtime. Literally champagne socialists with zero self awareness.

I wonder why he thought it was justified. I can’t think of any reason why I’d accept flying private.

I consider myself pretty progressive on most things but i learned from my own experience with my now ex union that all these union leaders are corrupt as hell, literally all take massive overinflated salaries and all they do is screw their members over. Only unions where members have full say on where their money goes, what union does and full open and fair elections is worth joining, i have yet to see this type of union though, which says a lot about the unions we have.

Anyone remember Scargill? Swapped a huge union and tiny house for a tiny union and huge house.
The NUM were the biggest in the country at their peak, as of 2023 they had around 82 members.
It’s almost like these union bosses might be deeply self-serving and keep you dancing by saying the right things at the right times. Who knew?

– There is no suggestion Mr McCluskey breached Unite’s gifts or hospitality rules because there was no such policy. Sharon Graham has since introduced a gifts and hospitality policy.

Going by the reports he’s got the [union to buy him a flat in London](https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/sep/08/unite-union-gave-len-mccluskey-400000-loan-to-buy-london-flat). Tried to get his girlfriend (who for the longest time he denied she was his girlfriend and used Unite funds to pay for lawyers to cover it up) a cushy MP’s job by [rigging the selection process](https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/mar/16/karie-murphy-fails-to-make-labour-candidate-shortlist-for-key-halifax-seat) (although given the actual mp ended up being a nonce he may get a bit of a pass here). And [colluded with his mates](https://www.livpost.co.uk/no-longer-defending-workers-the-retired/), Fat Joe Anderson, Paul Flannagan, and fucking Derek Hatton of all people, to syphon millions from the Unite union and the city of Liverpool into their own pocket.
Len McCluskey, friend and enabler of the Tories

Puts this story from 2022 in a curious light: “[***Mirror pays damages and apologises to McCluskey for lying that he’d ‘nearly bankrupted’ Unite***](https://skwawkbox.org/2022/06/19/mirror-pays-damages-and-apologises-to-mccluskey-for-lying-that-hed-nearly-bankrupted-unite/)” (from Skwawkbox).
