It doesn’t need to be cheaper than home charging, it just has to be cheaper than the competition.
Tried to rub that red smudge off my screen for far too long.
Am I right in saying this is roughly 10euro per 100KM? 17KWh per 100KM, would that be right? ESB public charging roughly the same cost as petrol so according to the SEAI, in fact its more expensive then diesel [https://www.seai.ie/plan-your-energy-journey/for-your-home/electric-vehicles/buying-an-ev/fuel-cost-comparison](https://www.seai.ie/plan-your-energy-journey/for-your-home/electric-vehicles/buying-an-ev/fuel-cost-comparison)
This will really convince people to ditch their petrol powered vehicles. If we’re getting fleeced anyway then what’s the point?
Maybe I’m just cynical but I see charges going to way more once the majority of people have switched to EV. Excise duty from fuel is a massive earner for the government and they are going to have to replace it somehow.
What a lucrative little country
There is truly no fucking escaping taxes and charges. The only thing more frustrating than getting charged up the arse for stuff like this, is knowing where that money is going… 🙃
This was always going to happen in one way or another. Eventually electric cars will cost the same to run as current ICE cars do.
The government brings in €3 billion+ a year in excise tax from fuel. You think they are just going to let that money walk away?
Ridiculous
Big tech / AI / server farms laughing all the way the bank while the plebs get left with the tab for energy investment.
