It’s wired wrong. The switch sends power to both the fan and light at the same time because they’re connected to the same wire in the ceiling.

From the pictures it looks like the fan has a pull chain. Use that to turn the light off while leaving the fan on. The wall switch just becomes a master on/off.

edit: hmm, nevermind I see the issue. Why do you have 2 ceiling lights? lol

Electrician probably fucked up and called it a feature, not a bug.

Have you tried pulling the string that hangs from the fan to switch it off?

It used to be two lights, that were always meant to be on together.

Then one was replaced by a fan.

It’s not easily solved, because there probably is only a shared cable for both, and changing it would require ripping up the walls.

I have the same situation in my living room.

I solved it by putting a wifi switch (Shelly) in the lamp, so I can turn it off with my phone, so I can enjoy some darkness.

In the summertime take the bulbs out of the ceiling lamps and only use the lights on the fan with the pull cord.

    Janky, but it works.

  6. I would buy a smart bulb with a remote control.

IKEA sells a smart home starter set.
