    1. Wonder how thorough the medical supervision will be, or will they hand them out like smarties to anyone who can pay?

Is the plan for people on these injections for weight loss to stay on them forever?

I know two dentists now who have all but given up on teeth and are working as Botox and weight loss drug injectors now instead. More money, less work.

Gonna be same shit as Botox and fillers. If you don’t do your research, don’t blame anyone else…

I’m assume, like with most things, there has to be some down side, like it eats away your muscles or turns your bones to glass ? I have seen people on the stuff and they do look strange, unnatural

This is not necessarily a bad thing. Obesity and cardiovascular disease cost the state a lot of money – overall this is a positive thing but obviously shouldn’t be given out like smarties

Irish people are massively obese. One of the fattest in Europe. These drugs are marvels and so far proven to be safe if correctly administered. Health care inflation is an increasing worry. Statins, stents, insulin are used to prevent people from developing problems. These drugs will be another tool in the arsenal.

I don’t consider myself a conspiracy theorist but there has to be some side effects coming down the road with this stuff, Ozempic etc.

It can’t just melt the fat away without any repercussions, can it?

I think about this a lot as a certified Fat Fuck™.

Yes, I’m fully capable of losing weight through diet and exercise. I’ve lost 25kg before. But keeping it off is mentally exhausting. It takes constant effort, willpower and attention that’s hard to sustain long-term. That’s why I see weight loss injections not as a magic fix, but as a *legitimate tool* to make the process more manageable.

People often point out that weight comes back after stopping the drug. And… yeah. That’s to be expected. The drug suppresses appetite. When you stop taking it, your appetite returns. That doesn’t mean the drug failed; it means you need a plan for what happens next.

Personally, I would use it as a *phase one*: reduce fat stores while it’s easier, and then transition into building muscle. More muscle means higher calorie burn at rest, which helps shift your body into a state where it *naturally maintains* a healthier weight without requiring constant vigilance. Some peoples brain crave more calories than others so I think having a body that can cover those cravings without weight gain is a long term solution that doesnt require constant willpoer and monitoring from the person.

I think these drugs should be framed as a way to *recalibrate* bodies that are genetically predisposed to gain and store fat, not just to make someone smaller, but to give them a physiological foundation for long-term change.

Coz that’s another layer people ignore: when someone is extremely overweight, movement is difficult and exhausting. Reducing that barrier with medication doesn’t just help with appetite, it makes it *possible* to move more, build habits and break the cycle.

The issue isn’t the drug. The issue is how we frame it. It’s not a miracle, but it *can* be a game-changer when used intentionally, as part of a bigger plan: one that doesn’t rely on never-ending willpower but actually makes the new lifestyle sustainable.

Great, there’s nothing wrong with them. They should be easier to access

I work as a personal trainer and some other trainers I talk to hate the idea of this for various reasons but I suspect alot of them are just afraid that they won’t have a job if people can lose weight easily with them. however I think any glp-1 fat loss drug can do a world of good for the people who really need them. I don’t have any clients who need them at the moment but if someone came to me who was heavily obese I would strongly suggest talking to a doctor about trying these out. not only does it literally prevent a life threatening condition but also I don’t think normal sized people realise how being over weight is basically a disability.

We need more data on the health impacts (purely out of my arse) but it still must be better than Obesity.

    14. People like to stay quiet about using these drugs because of judgement, scaremongering etc. I’ve no problem saying I’m on week 8 of Mounjaro and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done. I understand the drug, my doctor understands the drug and it’s working great. Go to r/mounjaroIreland if you want to learn a bit more about it.
