I’m German and some friends I had at school once lit a candle on Hitler’s birthday. They did that to be edgy and they did it in secrecy. I’m pretty sure none of them were Nazis and they just wanted to do something forbidden, something taboo.
I’d like to think that these guys also just want to be edgy but they do it so out in the open and so proudly, it’s difficult to interpret in any other way than this is what they actually believe in. Truly shameful behaviour.
