That’s all it takes? Shit, let’s get some unworkable rules of our own.

Now, lets hope that the Brussels Effect does its thing and non EU countries adopt similar legislation based on the EU’s rules.

Oh noo, hoe will we ever recover from this. What will we do now that we are missing batshit crazy propaganda from our lives.

Honestly good; political ads are so toxic most of the time.

“The EU says its political advertising rules seek to increase transparency in online advertising after Facebook’s Cambridge Analytica scandal, which came to light in 2018.”

“Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been highly critical of European rules, accusing Brussels in January of “censorship” and equating EU fines against the company to tariffs”

It’s not really censorship if it’s against ALL political ads… Although you’ve been pushing far-right disproportionately, so perhaps you’re the censor?
And you’re just a lazy greedy f*** who can’t be bothered to pay more people to actually provide a fair service.

Anyways I’m glad we’ll hopefully see less toxicity and propaganda online

      Good fuck Meta!

Why not leaving the EU market completely?

Yay, now let’s force social media platforms to require id verification for all users so that we can track who’s creating all the bots

That’s actually a very good outcome. Thank you meta, hopefully the next step is to be banned completely

Can we get more of these rules on other types of advertising?

Well Facebook is a cesspool full of hate nowadays anyway.
I wonder how they will deal with politicians doing advertising for themselves tho.

I also noticed that they rolled out subscriptions (for ad-free, privacy and some other opt-outs), while making it clear that the free version costs *other things*.

„unworkable” = well-written law for which Meta has not managed to find a “workaround”

    13. Thr0wevenfurtheraway on

Can we make them a little worse yet, just to be safe?

So that leaves TikTok and main stream media as big platforms.
And TikTok was greatly influential for Trump
