L’UE e la Cina sono d’accordo sul clima, ma non sono d’accordo su tutto il resto. La cooperazione ambientale è un’eccezione tra le tensioni commerciali e la sfiducia politica

The EU continues to act as a sex slave to the United States and China. The EU is in a very interesting situation now. It cannot defeat Russia in a war, and at the same time it is looking for countries around the world to confront and sanction Russia, but no one cares about it. It is economically dependent on China and the United States, internally divided, and has no political bargaining chips. The Chinese remain as satisfied as ever with the EU’s role. As a famous Chinese proverb goes, “If it is tasteless to eat, it is a pity to throw it away.”
Listen China: Stop supporting these Russian terrorists once and for all! Stop it! Your hands are becoming more bloody every day.
I think on the Middle East their positions are more similar to each other than to the position of America
lol, China has no interest in any genuine climate action, all it does is ensuring that it can delay/avoid EU applying climate angle on their trade. I don’t want to demonise China – they are great country, but they are ruthless in trade and if something is not done like yesterday, they would absolutely make all the “west” manufacturing and service providers irrelevant and bankrupt very very soon.
China doesn’t care about anything but growing their influence as world’s superpower by any means necessary.
The Chinese are only interested in their interests. Why is this shocking? Their interests and Europe’s interests aren’t the same so they don’t agree on many things. They agree on climate change because they don’t want to suffer the consquences of it. You can read the Wikipedia page “Climate change in China” to know how bad they are having. This just cooperation on mutual interests. Other than that the Chinese want their interests to be prioritised and the Europeans aren’t different except that they love to preach. In foreign policy, it’s interests over principles.
China has contributed the most to the green energy transition. From solar panels, wind turbines to electric cars. We have been talking for years about tackling climate change, and the west has done very little. Now we complain that they have done it too well. We call it overproduction, but from a climate point of view that doesn’t make any sense. We all know we need to transition as quickly as possible. The climate doesn’t care if a technology was state sponsored or a pure product of the markets! The results is what counts, and it is what will matter to future generations. In 100, 200, 300 years, people won’t care a bit how climate results were achieved, but they will have to live forever with the consequences of what our generation and the previous ones have done.
The west uses terms such as overproduction as they don’t want to admit their failure to move fast, and because their industries can’t compete anymore. The markets aren’t more holy than earth and the climate!
I don’t quite understand, why do European dislike China, complain China so much and so long, but don’t all boycott on any Chinese products, break up with PRC and switch to establish relationships with Taiwan.
Or just like Trump said, put 200% tariff on Chinese products because of connection with Russia. Turn to sell yourselves to the US, and stay away the disgraced China.
The world without China had work pretty well, why don’t all European come back to the old time?
CCP bots out here in force.
They agree on climate, because all the green industry R&D that European taxmoney paid for is now in China and Europe will have to buy literally everything from China for climate, except nuclear but that’s coincidentally verboten.
EU once again has chosen to become the protectorate of USA. Don’t get me wrong, overreliance to China is also quite dangerous, but at this point, with an active trade war from the USA, we need to start diversifying.
American hegemony is over. Asia is on the rise. Europe will soon have to choose. Are we a third pole of power and influence which can independently do deals on our favor or are we slaves to American Capital.
So far we are choosing the wrong side and we will pay for it
I found the EU’s insistence on trying to “correct” China’s approach to how it subsidizes and expands its industries frustrating and counterproductive. It seems the EU is the only entity in the world that still pretends to believe in some sort of idealistic neoliberal free trade model of the economy. This has never been the case and will be even less so in the future. Most countries, including the US, heavily subsidize their key industries, sometimes even at a loss. China is just very successful at doing so, and instead of whining about it (realistically there’s nothing you could do about it), we should be doing exactly the same. Identify key strategic industries and invest buttloads of money into it, and stop transferring all our assets to US dominated stocks.
that meeting could have been a 2 min call asking china if they consider russia guilty of war crimes in Ukraine and most likely they would have said NO and the call could have been ended
Europe is next on Chinas belt and road map. The new dumping ground of cheap goods because America is getting too protectionist. Europe needs to keep close watch on the home industries, because companies like BMW are already heavily investing in China for R&D of EV vehicles. Europe seems to have too many regulations and hurdles for that. I wish there was a way Europe could really open the door to more R&D and tech startups. Those two areas are where Europe is really falling behind China and the US. But I really think at this point China is the biggest threat to European democracy and sovereignty, especially given Chinese ongoing material support of Russia in Ukraine.
liberalistic and conservative forces in the EU are too rigid.
China protects its interests, the EU should do the same instead of protecting American interests
An in the West people should learn more about Chinese history & civilization (well, and also about other ones too like India), many times we think every country in the world works the same way, has the main objectives & should do the things the way we do. And world isn’t like that, people should stop assuming many things
Europe does not like black-hand jobs, so they lose competitiveness. Do your homework, stopping talking.
