I live in the hills of Banat, western Romania. Today we hit 41.2°C, and yes, that’s a banana tree growing in someone’s backyard, fruiting without any special care. No greenhouse, no winter wrapping, no fertilizers. It just grows wild. Some fig trees in Timișoara are over 5–6 meters tall, thriving like we’re on the Mediterranean coast, also, without special care. Anyone else seeing stuff like this in their region?

Ok. So what should we do about it?
Edit. Typical. Downvotes but no actionable things to do.

This post reminds me of the way American senator James Inhofe tried to make a point about climate change.

In Balkan it’s roasting up to 43 degrees Celsius and it’s been probably the worst summer of high temperatures in last 12 years.

I like bananas though so if anything this only proves climate change is good

Is it bad that Romania can grow bananas?

Feels pretty local to me. In Spain we have not reached 40 this summer, and the last few days it has been so cold, it feels like autumn.
Btw, remember to measure temperature on the shades, not under direct sunlight.
