This was egregious. If they will call Farage a pedo, they will call everyone who opposed this awful act a pedo. We can’t let them get away with it.

    2. but_yet-so_far on

i don’t like farage or reform, but the fact i don’t like the online safty act either does NOT make me some sort of pedo supporter/appologist

how can your political instincs be so bad that you cannot see how this exchange is a missive win for farage, even in the eyes of people who despise him

    3. James_847_Ben on

The Labour Party might as well hand the keys to number 10 now. The whole party are hellbent on Mr Farage becoming the next PM. We are truly fucked!!!

    4. Sensitive_Echo5058 on

It was a pretty stupid comment.

What’s weirder is how this policy went through under the guise of protecting children, when it probably puts them at greater risk of exploitation and being scammed.

    5. filbert94 on

Yes. Call your main opposition the name of one of the top 5 most hated people in Britain. That won’t make you look bad.

    6. Bridgeboy95 on

We’re gonna get a far right govt in five years due to Labours utter stupidity

This is like watching Biden all over again..

Heres what will happen, Starmer either this week or next will come out and say “some comments were made about Mr Farage that I do not agree with, i think we all need to watch our language”

Reform + 5 in the opinion polls

      I could cry.

    7. Material-Pineapple74 on

I think he’s going to have to say sorry for that one.

    8. thecheeseboiger on

This sort of thing leads people to question their political affiliations.

They see one side saying, “You’re just as bad as the worst pedophile in British history if you’re against this!” and they are rightfully repulsed by the stupidity and vitriol they hear.

Then you start seeing it more and more. Then you decide, I could never vote for that. That was my experience in any case.

    9. KebabAnnhilator on

Do labour seriously have me agreeing with Nigel Farage…

    10. Coffeeaficionado_ on

As much as I dislike Farage. I doubt he’d throw his political future away by supporting a Paedo.

Labour should shut up shit slinging and start governing.

    11. Ecstatic_Lion4224 on

I really wish people in authority or the public eye wouldn’t make stupid comments like this about grifters like Nigel. There are better ways to attack him, but if there is one thing the far right loves it’s playing the victim and grizzling about stuff like this so can we not hand them their material on a plate as this twat will lap it up.

    12. InfectedFrenulum on

So they’re using “if you oppose this bill then you love paedos” as an answer to any opposition? The actual Government, using rhetoric straight out of the playground. What next: “Vote for us or your mum’s a slag” on the next election campaign?

    13. qwerty_1965 on

I’ve just been reading the comments BTL on politics live blog in the guardian.

My god you can get a long way if you “put it up to Farage” the majority of posters have hardly addressed the legislation but are praising Peter Kyle for his analogy.

    14. winobeaver on

the mainstream political class have got too relaxed about being obscenely-offensive towards Farage

    15. Hiccups_again on

This government is so inept that they’ve made me agree with Farage twice in one week…

    16. Vertigo_uk123 on

Kyle told Sky News: “Make no mistake if people like Jimmy Savile were alive today he would be perpetrating his crimes online – and Nigel Farage is on their side.”

he was alive during the internet age and there is no record of online offending

    17. chronicnerv on

      “Do you condemn?”

Feels like deja vu, same script, different actor.

    18. PhoneBeneficial3387 on

Labour Ministers taking it in turns to lay on a hand grenade each week it seems

    19. DefinitelyARealHorse on

When Nigel fucking Farage looks downright reasonable in comparison, you know you’ve fucked up big.

On a side note, I do like “friend of Jimmy” as a euphemism for nonce.

    20. SpencersCJ on

Are labour actually racing to kill their party? Jimmy Saville didnt abuse kids through porn sites he did it by being given access to kids and it was covered up constantly. People are going to see this, see Labour calling anyone who doesn’t like their overreach the same as a genuine monster and take it as a personal insult.

    21. xylophileuk on

I can’t stand farage, but I will vote for him over this issue

    22. GeneralGiggle on

The same way Farage ‘apologised’ for making up police ‘shipped in’ anti-protesters with edited footage to Epping?

A ‘sorry you feel that way’ should suffice then.

    23. ExternalPattern4776 on

Peter Kyle needs to resign for making such a crass and stupid comment AND for being the Technology Minister responsible for implementing such a badly thought out, technology illiterate piece of legislation.

    24. Mrmrmckay on

It was such a dumb thing to do. Even the presenter tried to get that idiot MP to retract it. It’s another “if you voted for Brexit you’re racist ” moment

    25. CharSmar on

I don’t agree with the original statement, it’s a bit of a stretch to lump everyone who values basic online privacy in with absolute scum like Jimmy Savile BUT also – f*ck Nigel Farage

    26. Sleepybear2010 on

Someone spent too much time with trump the PDFile was on the tip of his tongue shame on him for directing it at the British wankers instead of the orange turd.

    27. Remarkable_Misty on

And so they should absolutely sickening from labour again

    28. PabloMarmite on

Nigel Farage has pushed the “Starmer protected Savile as a prosecutor” line every chance he’s gotten, so tbh I don’t have a lot of sympathy for him.

    29. MCMLIXXIX on

I wonder if ministers know something about farage that we don’t?

    30. somenorthlondoner on

I would be interested to see whether the appointment of that ex-S*n editor has anything to do with this frankly horrifying tweet put out by Peter Kyle

    31. blueblue_electric on

He’s moaning cos his good buddy Trump was unable to access kiddie sites while in Scotland

    32. ShortyStrawz on

This may be one of the only times I side with Farage. Is this not borderline slander/defamation?

    33. BroodLord1962 on

So by this Labour ministers logic, all the people on here who are against this bill are pedo’s. What an idiot

    34. Unlucky-Jello-5660 on

      >But Mr Kyle declined to do so, posting to social media: “If you want to overturn the Online Safety Act, you are on the side of predators. It is as simple as that.

So this guy is determined to shoot himself in the other foot by calling the what 250k who signed the petition against the act pedo supporters.

I expect we will get an announcement he has Starmers full support later, followed by his resignation or firing tomorrow morning.

    35. Floyd_Pink on

I hate Farage as much as the next sane person, but this comparison comment is over the line. Politicians need to be better. Sadly, that’s not going to happen either.

    36. terrordactyl1971 on

Typical of the left wing fanatics in Labour, if you disagree with them, they think it’s OK to start the personal insults and virtue signalling

    37. Original_Candle9586 on

For those who don’t already know, ‘Labour’, as in the people we are currently paying to ‘run’ the country, have nothing to do with and nothing remotely in common with the Labour Party that gave us the NHS, paid holidays, sick pay, council houses, free education, free dental treatment to name but a few things.

The current ‘labour’ as run by sir Kier Starmer KC only exist to discredit progressive politics and push the UK further and further to the right.

This is so their wealthy paymasters aren’t made to pay tax. Pure and simple.

A proper Labour government would of course increase taxes for the wealthy because that’s how society is paid for. There is no other way.

So all this about Farage just makes him look better and they know this.

Come on, you are being played

    38. mattthepianoman on

Peter Kyle should be sacked for that remark. It’s not only incredibly disingenuous to Farage, but it casts aspersions on every single person who thinks this act has been incredibly poorly implemented.

    39. Wasn’t Starmer himself head of the Crown Prosecution Service between 2008 and 2013 when Saville’s case became pretty much undeniable?

    40. ilikebiiiigdicks on

Well I guess that makes me a predator paedophile too then because I think this law is shit? What a disgusting approach to people who disagree with it.

    41. chase___it on

i hate farage don’t get me wrong, but that’s an outrageous thing to say and he absolutely does deserve an apology. what on earth was that minister thinking? not only have you slandered farage and given him sympathy points but you’ve also indirectly called hundreds of thousands of people who oppose the online safety act, pedophiles. in what world was that going to go down well??

    42. BarangChikut on

I can’t stand Farage, but does he not have a case to sue for slander?
