      >Trump’s administration is doing a separate investigation of pharma imports to America, to assess if over-reliance on them is a threat to national security. The expectation is that the results of this investigation, expected next month, will lead to a hefty tariff on pharma.

      So basically “for now”.

He got Van der Leyen to capitulate easily over a 15% tariff plus over a trillion the EU has to pay the US to energy and military expenditure. Like any gangster running a protection racket he’ll be back in a few months looking for more.

    3. Big wins for Trump on this tour, and he even got a round of Golf in.

A Masterclass by the American Administration.

Cuts off our largest energy producer and then forces us to buy three quarters of a trillion dollars worth of energy.

      Hook, line and sinker.

What the hell are the Eu doing…

Did they even consider Ireland at all, considering Ireland GDP basically saved Eu from recession in the last 6 months or so.

      woeful negotiating…

    6. 0% tariff on US cars. I’ve no idea how they sold that to him as a win, they could offer EU tax rebates on US cars and still no one would want them.

No spine in EU, people will be nationalist till it doesn’t spoil their profits. I guess power is everything in the world.

Trying to get this in perspective:

Americans will be paying 15% more on pharma and other associated goods (TBC)
US goods will be subject to a 0% tariffs. We don’t buy a lot, comparatively speaking, from the US?
We are committed to buying more energy from the US, at, I presume, a 0% tariff rate? So, cheapish energy, depending on the amount of scalping by producers?
Is it really a good deal for Ireland, though? Our experts of beef, alcohol and butter are surely going to be affected by a 15% tariff? Yes/no?
Forgive the ignorance, there is so much hyperbole at the moment.

Alright, deep breaths. It’s just a 15% tariff. Just the entire fucking cost structure of exported goods thrown out the window overnight. The absolute virgin new money pharma and tech lads will be spooked. They’ll be dumping assets. Absolutely dumping them.

Now, I could sit tight and be patient but sure there’s money to be made. So I’ll kindly step in and start snapping up whatever hits the floor. Town centres, commuter belts, those half-finished estates in dead end towns like Galway or Westport. Perfect long-term investments.

Might even bring back mass evictions. Not ideal, obviously. But with the market correction and rising operational costs, it’s really the only sustainable option. Look, I’m not happy about it, but someone’s gotta do it. Try it some time.
