I don’t see why AI is being blamed for this. The company would decide to bring in AI or not. Anything I phone the bank I’m speaking to someone in India.

Banking in Ireland has gone to shit. Our government need to step in.
Eventually they will be just 1 branch containing a giant computer, zero staff with a moat around it.
Want your money? Get fucked.

Bank of Ireland using AI? The same company that was dragged kicking and screaming into same day payments and Apple / Google pay is now using AI. The same company who need 2 business days to provide a bank statement. The very ones who have an app that looks like it would fit in on the first ever iPhone.
They are now using AI? Give me a break.

Very coincidental that they announced a return to office push just last week 🤔

Honestly, the EU should make a regulation about outsourcing works. Stop outsourcing works to India and keep all the works here.
I know a bunch of workers in one of the giant tech who lost their jobs went to India. They were paid minimum wage and still lost their jobs 🙄

One half of a de-facto duopoly ✅
Large, entrenched customer base ✅
Record low number of branches ✅
Record high Irish household wealth and deposits ✅
Still running on outdated infrastructure to save money ✅
Non-existent customer support = big savings on salaries ✅
Charges every customer a monthly fee for the privilege of doing their own banking ✅
Offers savers uncompetitive interest rates, well below the ECB rate…and pockets the difference ✅
Charges borrowers sky-high interest rates ✅
Tax regime discourages customers from investing outside their basic savings accounts ✅
Continues penny-pinching practices phased out elsewhere years ago ✅
And yet somehow this company still needs to sack staff to meet it’s performance targets. They have the perfect environment to print money if their management was halfway competent.

As a BOI customer that does not sound good at all. Might be a good idea to have my money switched to a different bank.

Am I the only one who thinks all the savings made in utilising internet type functionality (after you been pretty much bailed out) should be used to increase staffing levels?

Feel like Irish banks have lost touch with the yoof. Last good idea was Henry the Hippo.

AI ? In BOI?
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Obviously someone has told the CEO they have deployed AI as he heard this buzz word and then said ‘ we need to be in this space’ , the drones that work there then bought a licence for co-pilot after a 2 year project and told him they have ‘deployed AI’

They’re so far out in ‘no man’s land’, they closed premises to go ‘digital’ but have the worst I’ve come across.Â
Clearly their RTO is correlating with this job cuts, so they’ll force them out as opposed to redundancyÂ
