In theory, I understand that he might have the relevant credentials for such a role *on paper*. Given the substance of the person in the flesh though, I can’t see who thought this was worth it for the inevitable fallout.

So what theyre saying is “Please don’t hire this man, he edited a newspaper 15 years after the newspaper printed a false story about liverpool fans”.
Seems like a bit of overkill to be honest.

Totally agree with the Hillsborough bereaved hack cunts that work for the s*n should never have a seat next to our elected powers.
But it’s a stretch to use Hillsborough itself as a reason why not. Wasn’t he 15 years after? Him saying just the headline was a mistake is pretty awful, so I understand.
Perhaps it’s more the article is trying to pin it together, and it’s people hating to see someone associated with a company that spouted lies while families grieved and simply using their right to speak

Right now, given the current political climate, recruiting directly from the Street of Shame Gutter is a thoroughly rookie move.
Good money on this quietly going away. Not just this, but whoever is Director of Comms there for Starmer appears to be quite…’average’ (no need for personal attacks) at what they do.

He’s the master of the own goal, this fella. Or maybe he doesn’t care. Either way, when you see the right gaining ground in Liverpool of all places (and you do), it’s pretty obvious where we’re going.
