Having seen some of the developments previously built around the railway in Cambridge, these are going to be low quality new build high rise units, likely in those cities, and like Cambridge currently, purchased by overseas investors to rent out to students or turn into Airbnb’s.
Great news. Identifying these parcels of land and putting them to use is exactly what the country needs.

This has been talked about for over a decade. And would provide less than one month of needed housing supply.
The desperation of this country to do anything other than build on green fields or up in existing suburbs is completely absurd.
Works well if we never want to expand rail capacity ever again. Car lobby getting what they paid for?
Add another 0 onto the end of that and we are 1/3 of the way to having enough just for this year’s population growth … Haha
This is good, but honestly, these houses should be mid – high rise flats (i.e 5-15 floors depending on location) instead of semi detached houses.
In b4 this turd of a government f this up and build houses on a working rail line and cause the worst train disaster in history…
