      >Oh and the number they gave me literally doesn’t exist!

The number: +353 1 890 8320 does exist. I am unsure why they are sending you to EuroCarParks tho.

      >I swear I was talking to AI

You absolutely are taking to AI.

    2. First call that number they’ve given, just to ensure you have that box ticked – maybe they can actually sort this for you.

If not, you then need to get the promoter involved, and possibly the artist’s tour management. They tend to be pretty helpful – they’re always staffed by “can do” people.

      What’s the gig?

    3. They really need to bring in a European wide law that stops companies from avoiding their responsibilities to customers by using AI as an excuse. Having functional customer support should be seen a requirement for operating a business in Europe.

This is just a corporation turning on the AI and going home.

Stick this up on X, tag them, tag the consumer ombudsman. Companies hate bad press and it’s the surest way to speak to an actual person. That said, beware of scammers impersonating said company too. Feel for you, this is ridiculous but not surprising given its Live Nation. Did someone say monopoly?

The eurocarparks at the end was a curve ball. Fuc sake.

Shame the bastards. Do they have an accessibility officer or policy?

Could you make a complaint under the disabiltiy act?

Get onto the rag pappers. One of the beo pages would be “ ticketmaster directing customes to ring euro car parks. AI FAIL”

I’ve been back and forth with them since the start of June about tickets I bought via their site, as per their instruction. For the first month they said they were busy, then looking into it, and then eventually said it was resolved, despite them never having properly responded. Then they sent me to DF Concerts for some reason, which was nonsense, and then last week they said to contact Live Nation. Horrible mob to deal with, preferred the days you had a choice of outlets to buy tickets.

    9. Spam “HUMAN” in the chat and it should go to a real person.

By the way Ticketmaster are introducing a support fee if you need any support from them beyond just purchasing the tickets.

Have you tried contacting the venue? They might be a little more understanding, or could put some kind of plan in place. Sorry you have had to deal with this.

Ticketmaster has been a scummy money hungry monopoly for a long time now. I’m surprised they haven’t swapped out artists themselves for AI already.

The status of needing a companion is one which needs medical validation, and even at that it is a risky area for doctors. There are thousands of people who are disabled, and in their own view of things, rightly feel they need a companion or special access. They may well be correct, and that is their personal judgement and their experience. No one should tell them any different. I’m firmly of that view.

What we have here is a difficult scenario. It is a situation that is trying to balance competing interests. The fact that you do not know what is required to show you need a companion, or you haven’t submitted it, is the first major red flag for someone as large as Ticketmaster. What you have submitted doesn’t rise to the standards required when there is a limited resource there, and venues or service providers need to use it equitably. That’s my reading of it. Your experience in smaller venues and in the old school model was that it could be managed on the fly. Today it is difficult to do that.

The ideal scenario would be there would be no questions asked when you book the tickets, and that it operates on an honour system. Unfortunately, with the way things are today, there are a lot of scumbags out there who will take advantage of that. There were numerous cases of young girls getting wheelchair assistance in Dublin Airport for example, just so they could skip Q’s. Numerous cases of mother’s seeking to jump Q’s as their kid is autistic. Again, essential requirement for some, but not required for others – and the benefit nevertheless sought.

You shouldn’t have to justify your situation, and that you need a companion. But there are others out there who will jump on that to get in. Either outright fraud, or a person with a disability who could really take a general admission ticket but doesn’t want to. There’s a mixed bag of people, and in the middle you have the genuine people really suffering.

I wish you well. Go get a short letter off your doctor saying you are a patient of theirs, and it’s recommended you have a companion where possible at social events. Keep it short. Your business is not their business. Keep copies and use when needed. But where your doctor provides it, and shouldn’t have, then that’s where the sheriff comes in. Less said the better about what that works, but doctors ought to remember it says doctor on the door. Not god. There will be a good few of them getting a right kicking for signing people off work. Watch this space. Hammered, and I mean hammered, is going to be an understatement once it is all worked through.

I went through similar BS with these fools when buying an accessible ticket for Oasis last year. I was fit to get my solicitor onto them in the end. Apparently I will receive a parking pass as a blue badge holder. We shall see.
