Serious question: why don’t they just merge with Austria? (Or Switzerland if they prioritize autonomy over EU accession.)
big if true. i hope the traffic situation on their road improves.
The text itself suggests that they want closer ties to the EU, but rule out EU membership. So the title might be overstating it.
However, given how both the parliament, the council, and the commission currently works so would a full membership for little Liechtenstein be quite unreasonable. I assume there already is an inofficial rule about microstates, due to what outsized influence they’d get, even though no one would admit it.
(And in before someone says: “What about Malta?”, their population is more than 13 times that of Liechtenstein)
