*From Bloomberg reporters Stephanie Baker and Aaron Kirchfeld:*

The targeting of Armin Papperger represented a new frontier, even when compared with Russia’s long-established and well-documented history of violence against enemies living on foreign soil.

After the invasion of Ukraine, Russian hybrid warfare—not just assassinations but also sabotage, disinformation and covert attacks on critical infrastructure—accelerated sharply, reaching a fever pitch last year. During the Cold War, these techniques were known as “active measures.”

Analysts say the volume and intensity of the tactics was greater during the Ukraine war’s first three years than in the heyday of the Soviet Union, though the pace has slowed in 2025.

I honestly don’t understand the logic. If they succeed, then someone else will take over as CEO and… what? They think they’ll stop selling weapons to Ukraine?

      Delusional.

honestly, it wouldn’t be too bad. and that’s not only for the ukraine situation.
it looks like the assholes who settled the economy back themselves, are now pushing for war retorics to make a profit. Mangione is right, but it’s naive of him to think that an individual action means something.

I don’t think, they tried to kill the CEO – because the CEO, despite being a former engineer, is not responsible for developement of weapons and technology in the factories and labs. He’d also just have been replaced by someone else and the business would not have changed at all.

How do we even know, it were the Russians, when no one was caught?

Just saying, it doubt this. I don’t doubt the hybrid-warfare, no, but i think, it wasn’t about this in his case.

Thats a new dimension in Europe. No doubt. But to be honest. How much Times in past, attacked Russia, opposition politicians or human rights activists on European soil? Europe should answer on this matter. No hesitation. Its literally acts of Terror done by Russia
