I’m sure the police will help you to avoid most cars when asked nicely……./s

What do you mean with do it without crossing too many cars?

Flanders is heavily urbanised, so unless you go by bike-highways (F8 & F1 from Leuven to Antwerp), you’ll always have to use streets that are shared between different vehicles.

But the route you shared is tried & tested be a lot of people and a fun ride.

This route is mainly along canals / the Dijle river.

There are roads where cars can also drive ,but always with (separate) bike paths. Most of the route is car-free however.

This is a wonderful route, between Leuven and Lier, it’s mostly along rivers/canals (where no cars are allowed). Afterwards there are some bike-only roads, and sometimes next to the regular roads. Should be fine.

Don’t forget to stop from time to time and visit places 🙂

(Oh and you practically pass by our house in Mechelen).
