Marks & Spencer “scusa” con il cliente dopo le offerte di dipendente “trans” per aiutarla

I’m sure this mother would’ve been perfectly happy if a trans man had directed them instead.

And there it is. Just a regular member of staff, not someone doing sensitive fittings, not going into “women’s only spaces” – they were just on the shop floor offering to assist people with their purchases. The woman in question basically saw a trans person and decided to be a bigot and got outraged that they existed because reasons.

M&S shouldn’t have apologised. All the customer needed to say is “no thanks” if they didn’t want to interact, not be a cunt and whail and complain that *gasp* a trans person offered to help them and they need immediate apologies for made-up trauma. If they were that proud of what they did – why remain anonymous.

This is just silly. Imagine taking umbrage at a trans person working in a shop and asking you if you need assistance?

Just to confirm what happened here, two customers who were looking around M&S were approached by a shop employee. One of the customers assumed this employee is a trans woman based on her height. (Some women who aren’t trans are tall, but whatever). Employee asks the two if they need help finding anything. Customer is so deeply upset that someone she believes is transgender dared to ask her the most basic customer service question in history behind “do you want a receipt” that when M&S personally apologised to her for allowing this injustice to occur, it’s not enough.

Edited to add after I found out: JK Rowling is tweeting saying that the employee offered to fit the customer’s teenage daughter’s bra personally (source: her arse. This is a lie.) and calling her/implying she is a paedophile.

Why is M&S apologising to some snotty nosed cunt for? Should have just told the complainer to fuck off.

We have a bizarre problem in this country where people/companies will bend over backwards to apologise to others even when they’re wrong.

So an employee who may or may not be transgender offers assistance to find the correct part of a store and has no other interaction with the customers.

What the fuck is going on that means this complaint warrants an apology?

Absolutely pathetic from M&S.

This is a completely disgusting response from M+S and I won’t be shopping there any more. It’s a clearly vexatious complaint. They weren’t even in a gender segregated part of the store, there would be absolutely no problem with a cis male member of staff offering to help them and there are men in this part of the store. There is no reasonable good-faith complaint against what the staff member did. The complaint is literally just that trans people exist and have the nerve to speak to decent normal folk. For M+S to not strongly defend the basic human dignity and right to exist of their own staff is appalling.

Aside from everything else, if we organised society on the basis of who teenage girls consider “freaks” we would achieve a degree of fascistic panopticon that would make Mussolini blush.

Fairly sure that’s the last time I shop at M&S. I’m just so fucking sick of companies being awful.

Fuck M&S for apologising. 

This will genuinely make me think twice about buying anything from M&S ever again. They should be supporting their employees, not pandering to fucking bigoted cunts. 

Who the hell cares if a person helping you is Trans or not? They’re doing a job, no need to get all ragey because the M&S worker is Transgender. That staff member needs the apology from M&S; not the bloody customer.
