Used to enjoy MacKenna’s writing, contrarian but not annoyingly so, but lockdown really broke him and went from fun contrarian to something worse.
But fuck that is shitty news, I hope he’s able to look after himself and make as full a recovery as possible.
Fuck cancer.
I met Ewan when he hadn’t completely taken the big dive yet and was still appearing on Newstalk and today fm.
He was good craic. Although in the intervening years he has turned into an absolute crack pot.
Hope he recovers.

Maybe his bosses in Russia could arrange treatment
Never like to hear about the likes of anyone, especially a young man having to fight any illness, much less Cancer. Hope he gets a good run of it, and is OK, and hopefully them he comes out the other side he’s less inclined to spit the bile and horrible guff he spews on a regular basis.
He WAS a talented writer, especially with sport, but he hjnped the shark a long time ago and has tried to prolong his career as a professional crank. Maybe this might help him with his thinking and to be a little bit more tolerant and charitable towards others.
