      Why are there so many Ukrainians in… Kryštofovy Hamry? I understand it had just 129 residents in 2021, so the absolute amount is low, but why are Ukrainians living there at all? As far as I’ve learned, it’s just a small village that never recovered after the Germans were kicked out.

      UPD: https://www.citypopulation.de/en/czechrep/usteckykraj/chomutov/563315__kry%C5%A1tofovy_hamry/ shows a massive overrepresentation of adult men aged 30-50, so they probably were some sort of temporary workers, but I can’t find anything specific.

      TIL that Czechia is divided into a ridiculous number of 6258 administrative regions called obec. For contrast Poland (4 times larger) is divided into less than 2500 of equivalent regions. Blew my mind a little
