Da aziende come Nokia, Rovio, Supercell a What Now and Future?

We are definitely living in a time of change. Not in a good way though.

Its not happening. This was a popularist move by the popularist party without consulting any other government coalition parties.

Which all other government parties let know immediately and rebuked. saying “this isnt the government proposal, thst is just Finns party position and we shall now *negotiate* among government”.

Purra was just aping Trump for cheap headlines and outrage bait.

More relevant would be to look “what else was in that budget proposal she doesnt want looked at too closely by taking up the headline and media space with the insane education agency proposal”.

People got duped to vote wannabe Trump party, mostly because of racism and their social media presence for younger people and now they’re trying to do same in Finland that they’re doing in America. I hope you right wing assholes are happy, fucking neo nazis.

They’re fine burning the country to the ground just because different color people suffer too. Fucking insanity.

    4. It’s only speculation so far, the minister’s own party is doing atrociously in the polls, so she tries to do something flashy to get the voters back.

I would wait until something concrete is decided before passing judgement, even if I have very little faith in the other parties in the government.

It is a troll budget and virtue signaling. 3/4 of the cuts are targeted towards the Swedish People’s Party areas. Ministry of Education and Culture is under SPP leadership right now. It will not pass but they are just giving a finger to them. As always, it is just shit imported from MAGA.

And as for the inevitable people coming out and saying that it will just be merged to the ministry, do not fall for that. The education agency is a specialist organization, one of their 20+ tasks is to decide on the national curriculum. We do NOT want that to be under political guidance, imagine the curriculum being decided by some anti-woke, anti-science, anti-progress asshole in the future.

    6. The right is convinced the education system is feminist and woke, so they want to dismantle it

    7. >Where did Finland go wrong ?

Fuckwits got elected into parliament. As simple as that.

It was fucked way before this, not saying this is good at all, cutting education is a surefire way to make a generation of retards.

Can’t do shit though, so not my problem.

    9. I would really hope that Finns would start recognising the US as a warning and not as an example.
Destroying education is one of the worst things that a country can do to its people and to itself. It will inevitably lead to a downfall.
Please analyse the dangers in Purra’s suggestions. Please vote against this travesty.

It’s not that guns are more important than books. It’s just that as long as there is an existential threat in the east, we don’t really have other options but to increase defence spending. And this is what most parties, even in opposition, agree on. And I don’t think we spend that much on hosting US troops.

But I agree with you otherwise. Education cuts are always stupid. It’s only about short term profits at the expense of long term prosperity. And abolishing the Finnish National Agency for Education is only about gaining political control over education under the disguise of cost savings. If there are any cost savings, they are negligible.

We allowed ideologues to experiment with our schools. That’s where we went wrong.

We did away with separate classes for low achievers and put everone in the same room. We built schools with no proper classrooms. We stopped using actual books and replaced them with flaky digital equivalents. We let everyone pass on to the next grade, regardless if they have learnt anything. We lowered learning standards accross the board.

The Education Agency has a lousy track record from the past 25 years. Teachers won’t miss it.

That’s what you get for voting a populist clown and her party. If people had only read their election platform (vaaliohjelma). No wait, they didn’t have one and they were riding on talking points about owning them libs. So people voted for no plan just to make liberals mad and here’s the results. It’s seems almost as if you need a plan to run a country successfully.

    13. fonk_pulk on

They’re not abolishing it at the moment. Its only a budget proposal and the National Coalition Party is not supporting Purra on this

    14. LazyAssMonkey on

Just note that the proposal was to dismantle the agency but move all of its responsibilities to the ministry of education

I’m an American who lurks on this sub, so it’s sad to see Finnish news look like US news 🙁 All the heavily right-wing states in the US have the worst education and literacy rates because their right-wing politicians refuse to fund their schools and universities. Countless studies show that the more educated someone is, the more likely they are to vote for progressive candidates/policies, so why would a right-wing politician ever want to increase funding for education? Authoritarian and fascist politicians in other countries are trying this now and copying Trump’s playbook since they’ve seen him succeed here. Fascism is contagious, so I hope Finns can get these losers replaced in their next election, and I hope this proposed budget fails. Also I hope every Finn reading this votes any chance they are able to whether in local or national elections. It’s not guaranteed that your vote matters or is counted, so don’t ever take it for granted unless you want to end up like the dumpster fire that is modern USA. Sorry if this seems like a lecture, but it’s very scary to see it happening here, and it’s even scarier to think it might spread to other nations.
