Standard practice to sow division among people in this country. They have been doing it for years in the UK for years. As sinister and horrid it is they are using teens to do it becasue they know nothing will happen to them.

The scumbags that have been jumping people and stealing bikes for years must be delighted they’re now seen as far right activists.

Ireland needs to wake up to the fact that this is an international phenomenon being driven on social media. We’ve a tendency to wallow in this “only in Ireland” narrative a lot and start blaming domestic factors like culture or education etc etc. the drivers are quite calculated and planned. It’s an adapted localised template. This is precisely the approach these groups used in the UK (including what drove Brexit), across Europe, in Canada, Australia and it’s what MAGA used directly to get Trump elected.

Ireland isn’t immune – it just wasn’t focused on and targeted very heavily, but that’s very much changed in the last few years, with the opportunity opening

Our politics is harder to tip over because of how it’s structured and because of how we see and frame our national identity- you’re unlikely to see a MAGA or UKIP type thing, but you are going to see rising violence and conspiracy theory driven stuff in the fringes. That’s been happening and it’s being driven online. The thuggish elements are being radicalised and recruited, just like they were elsewhere.

The problem I have with the far right (and people siding with them)is time and time again is the fact they have shown who they in many countries. They will strip women, minorities and the LGBTQ+ communities of their rights. They won’t solve immigration, they sow deep divisions between people and generally line their own pockets. They incite violence and are deeply racist. I know politicians generally look out for themselves and their own pockets but people need to realise that no country (with the exception of a few maybe) has a proper grasp on immigration.

The Guards won’t stop MI5 assets from tearing the Irish working-class apart and keep us fighting among ourselves to distract from the Irish government’s failures, fatalities and obsession with joining the military-industrial complex.

When are we ever going to learn ? Somebody at some time is going to take advantage of this to pursue an agenda that will appeal to these little bastards.
Already we’ve had The likes of Steve Bannon , Trump’s political strategist no less pushing the demonisation of immigrants in Ireland A couple of years ago. It’s easy you pick a group, may it be LGBTQ’s as it was, and and publicly humiliate them, same for migrates. The manipulative strategy as always is ” The Problem- Reaction-Solution ” model. Right wing enthusiasts will exploit a PROBLEM ie immigration and tell us they are the cause of all our woes.
The public REACTION is one of demanding governments to do something, and is usually fueled by media coverage that underlines the situation ie FOX news.
The Solution is already in place, new laws or policies that would not be used normally, ie deportation without cause, limiting access to public services.
Has Ireland got problems ? Of course it has, and we, all of us as people are going to be judged on how we address these problems. I,m proud to be Irish, my family answered the call like other Irish families to fight and to protect people who can’t fight back.
If your solution is to beat up children or women or anyone for that matter because of the colour of their skin or where they come from , if it leads to that , then I for one will be between you and them.

I’m fully aware of the irony saying this on Reddit, but all social media platforms need to be verified. Age gated and all verified accounts. If people had to be verified online you can be sure that most of the hatred and far right stuff would go away. The problem is it’s never been easier to spread hate in an online age. And the algorithms love it as it creates engagement and clicks. Enrage to engage i call it. Far too many people are susceptible to misinformation and disinformation online and don’t have the critical thinking skills to refute it. It’s like the WANT to believe the stuff they are reading to justify their preconceived beliefs. I think we all need to continue to call out and challenge this behaviour and nonsense before it’s too late. It won’t be immigrants taking over (that’s another disgusting lie they like to put out there) it be the far right agitators that will.

And do we want to live in a society like that ?
Don’t they realise that the more hate they spew the less FDI we get ? And that affects their dole as the government losing revenues. These dole dwellers need a rude awakening. They need to be held accountable.
