The Telegraph has had to post corrections on a number of immigrant-related articles, including claiming that one in twelve people in London were an immigrant. They are so bad that other papers are no longer relying on them as a source of information. That is not to say this story is not true to an extent, we do know that plenty of migrants have been lost or were never in the system in the first place, I am going to take every story they have about immigration with a large pinch of salt though.
SoundsVinyl on
I’m worried about terrorist attacks with the state of the world now and all these un vetted and lost immigrants.. it’s a massive security risk.

Conservatives/Telegraph (they’re basically the same these days) getting a bit desperate:
> Care staff were added to the UK’s skilled worker scheme in February 2022… Since then, the UK has granted 154,402 visas to migrants providing “caring personal services” in Britain, allowing them to stay here for up to five years at a time.
The Government’s response to being asked how many of those people are working in the care sector now, they said:
> The department does not hold data that directly links visa status to ongoing employment in adult social care or residence in the United Kingdom over time.
So… the *Conservatives* let in 150,000 people, to work in the social care sector, for up to 5 years. 3 years ago. In theory, all of them are still *legally entitled* to be in the UK, working in the social care sector.
The Conservatives are now complaining that these people are not being tracked on a day-to-day basis by the Government, to find out if they are still in the UK, and if they are still working in the care sector. Maybe the Conservatives should have thought about that before letting them come to the UK, where they had no system in place for tracking the daily status of all immigrants.
Or maybe they don’t actually care about this, they know it is all perfectly reasonable because we don’t live in a country where the Government routinely tracks the status of everyone in the country legally.
