      I hate the fact that this has to be done in this manner for the PR. This isn’t a complaint about deporting foreign criminals. They absolutely should be deported, no concerns.

      But it’s a damning sign that routine police actions are being publicised to get public approval.

      Finally the government starts to take communication seriously. Unfortunately the right are way ahead so the only option is to match them. Next time some Reform voting idiot says’ they aren’t deporting anyone’ they can be pointed at these videos.

      I can’t imagine the purpose of releasing videos will ever come to pass. How many people who are really concerned about immigration are going to be persuaded that Labour are the best party for those concerns? I’d guess almost zero.

      As cringy as it is and as unconcerned as Labour have been hitherto, this publicity, and showing some willingness to respect public opinion, is the only way for them to stave off complete electoral wipeout in ’29.

      Labour really trying to do whatever it can to appeal to reformers (which it never will, as long as they’re told to hate Starmer by gb news and dodgy Facebook pages, they will regardless of his right wing policies), while losing every single left wing / centre-left vote (of which there can’t have been many left in the first place). So pathetic. Would be funny if we weren’t sleepwalking into fascism.

      This should be the standard but the past 30 years has eroded all sense of politicians actually do what they’ve been elected to do. So this is a requirement just to show for once them doing something. I’d still say Labour are really unwilling to do this and only doing this as a response to the protests and riot. Even though they said they’d sort illegals in their manifesto.

      Better late then never but this should’ve been announced day 1 if they wanted to scrap Rwanda plan.

      New New Labour *think* this make them look tough on migrant crime and will steal some of the narrative back from Deform.
      But all it actually does is make people think “Holy shit, Nigel was right” and makes things much worse.

      I just hope that the groups who used to protest against deportations and have legit blocked multiple deportations in the past don’t get more information out of these videos so that they can go and disrupt the process.

      What they could win on is focusing on living standards and wealth tax

      But that involves challenging neoliberalism just a little bit

      A wealth tax does not mean a hammer and sickle at the end of it.
