So by ‘secret corporate court’ they actually mean resolved by arbitration? I’m disappointed – the world’s looking more and more like cyberpunk portrayals of the future and I’d briefly imagined corporations having gained the rights of sovereign states,
The fact the UK has “secret courts” of any sort and calls itself a free country is alarming.
That would be the same Geoffrey cox who spent several months working in the Caribbean while supposedly an MP representing his constituents?
When he earned £700k working in the British Virgin isles in 2021.
ISDS is an absolute joke, and I almost hope that there is a ridiculous case that “requires” the UK to pay out, to kick the government into changing the law to ignore them.
Unfortunately I would imagine that Starmer would bend over and take it, as that seems to be his MO.
